Definitely will not miss Pillar. Nice guy, decent player, but overrated defensively and a pretty significant hole in the lineup. This was a smart deal by Jays' brass.

I have no issues dealing Pillar either.

You gotta wonder how much that body has left. The way he plays... If you know you're going to move him, better a year early than a year late.

I was just never a big fan of Pillar. He tried to make every catch a TV highlight catch when he didn't need to and his offense was just meh.

    Bring on the rebuild!

Jays extended Grichuk to a 5yr, 52mill deal.

Gotta say, I don't get this deal. It's a team friendly environment right now, and how much more would he have commanded if they waited till like June to extend him?

I hope the fans give him a standing O when he returns with San Fran later this month. I know I will if I end up going to the game. Yes, he was a deeply flawed ball player. In all honesty I wasn't even a fan of his when he was here. But he played the game with heart and I think he genuinely liked playing here. Toronto needs to appreciate players like this. I know he was a bit of a highlight reel monkey but it helped put the Jays back on the map in the league.

Kind of agree with this. I get the reasoning - locks up 3 years of his free agency and he has shown some potential (not a bad OPS to end the season considering how poorly it started for him). But that is a lot of money to pay out for a guy who really hasn't proven anything. Hopefully he ends up developing into the player we're all hoping he is and ends up being a big piece of our rebuild.

I just want to see him put together a full season. The talent and potential is there.

81 games on natural grass vs. that Tor turf will do wonders for his playing style
