Again, another guy I was fine if the Jays didnt land. I am more interested in Bauer and Springer. Those are the two FAs they need the most.

I don't want Springer at 170mill when you have the FA crop next yr.

I think Bauer is the one guy you can trust in this league who will not fluctuate team to team as he's pretty transparent on cheating. I kinda like that wild card emotion from him, but I do think his legit talent is not a wild card. Seems very baseball grounded, and very intelligent when it comes to baseball. Just...emotional.

All Im saying is he's had 2 great years with a pretty crappy year sandwiched in between. He definitely plays by his own tune and that shows by him changing entire pitching mechanics from year to year.

His spin rate numbers from this past year indicate he either had an incredible increase out of nowhere....or he himself was using a foreign substance. I know he's been vocal about cheating but I also wouldn't put it past him to now try and cheat to prove a point.

    Plus he's almost 30.

DJ signed for $90mill over 6yrs. He wanted $100mill over 4yrs.

Jays must have REALLY low balled him. $15mill/yr for a batting champ and solid d is cheap.

Or there's always the possibility he simply turned down Toronto's offer, or very well could have used it for leverage to get this deal from NY.

    Jays offered 78mill/4yr = 19.5mill/yr.

Apparently Yankees were around that offer too, DJ went back to NY and NY added 2yrs. DJ was "apparently very close to signing with the Jays".

Second place again it sounds like.

That came from an insider like Passan. It wasn't Passan, but someone on his level. I forget who it was though.

But that could have come from Atkins lol. But I honestly think the Jays have been 2nd on a lot of things truthfully. They just aren't willing to risk as much as others. And I think that's because of the market. Jays need to rely on development a lot more than New York teams.

    Agree with this one.

Double whammy with DJ staying in the division.

Jays have up'd their offer to Springer to 110-115mill/5yrs. What was it before? 80mill over 4?
