Yes it was. Force the play at home at least, then everyone else is safe.

38yr old John Axford coming in to save the BP. Great move. No need to upgrade the BP anymore.

Springer looks to be back by the end of the week too now. The team literally just needs rest for their arms right now, and the more Montoya allows those starters to go deep, it helps a ton. Maybe Ryu going 7ip, and Stripling earlier going 6.2 will show the team can go into the 7th with their starter lol. The Robby Ray and Manoah starts not going into the 5th in either was understandable though.

Day off, Matz I think is kinda close to coming back too.

Strips solid again. Knew I should have grabbed him for a 2 start week.

The "Expected win" totals for the division is pretty in favour of the Jays.

Jays should be 41-31 instead of their current 37-35, which would put them 1.5games behind the expected 1st place TBR.

Jays needed this part of the schedule to put off the wolves for a bit and to get their mental state back on track.

I dont know anything about Cimber but if he's a big league pitcher, he's an upgrade to what they have. I dont understand bringing in more OF but maybe this is just a move before another move. Panik was one of the few guys who could consistently play 3B for them so I dont get this move.

I think this is some of the reasoning behind the deal:

    - Cimber has team control to 2025
    - Miami has a LF who needs playing time, Dickerson was taking his time
    - Miami said, "You can have Cimber if you take Dickerson from us" as a cap dump
    - Toronto needs a LH bat
    - Toronto might be wanting to push Biggio or Gurriel to 3B more
    - Miami needed IF depth and that's why they took Panik

Dickerson could be a bench bat, but they don't need to really worry about that for a bit since Dickerson won't be available to play till post ASG. So they can take their time with his use.

Cimber has some good numbers, but his FB is like 88mph and his slider is 78mph. That's pretty much all his pitches. If he gets out, whatever, but could not be the best right now. But Toronto does need team controlled RP arms. They don't have much in terms of talent.

Did confuse me at first. But if acquiring Dickerson was necessary for the deal to happen, Jays have the positional versatility to move guys around.

I just see this trade as taking away from a position of need (3B) and adding a position of depth (OF).

I've always thought Gurriel's time with the Jays was numbered. This could make it even more numbered. If this is the end of the moves for the Jays, then the deal is odd. If it's a set up move then it makes more sense.
