2 weeks to go in the Regular Season, this stretch run is going to be fun to watch for both the AL and NL Wildcards.
Jay specific: Ryu on the 10-day Injured List this morning. Hopefully he gets straightened out as he has been brutal recently.
There is nothing better than seeing the Yankees lose and Cole be the pitcher.

Very weird zone last night. Ump was tricked often by framing by the catcher.

Ya, when you see those bad strikes that are balls really called, then the next pitch be in the zone fully, it's painful to watch.
Jays issues all yr have been pitches they've never faced. Goes back to even the Donaldson yrs. They got the ball running the second they faced a pitcher they've faced.
Jays have faced Drew Rasmussen twice this yr, and haven't done well against him (7IP, 3hits, 1bb, 1double, 5ks) but one of the appearances was a start, the other he finished the game. The start was a 5ip appearance last week (The 2-0 game Jays lost).
My prediction is the Jays hit him decently well the 2nd go around the order.

The last 2 games umping have been tough to watch.
Joe West derailed Manoah on a slider that was hugely in the zone and called a ball. And I'm positive West enjoys doing that to young pitchers. What I did like was Manoah was joking with West when he made the mound maintenance request. Manoah didn't hold a grudge at all live which was nice to see.
The Keirmaier thing...he found it. Not his fault. What I didn't like was the team denying the request to give it back. But they can do that, there's no rules not to.

I dont begrudge the Rays for not giving the info card back either. Kirk shouldnt have lost it in the first place. It is what it is.

I was thinking about this thread yesterday as I turned on the game. Hoping to get a consistent ump and then immediately learning behind the plate was ... Joe West. God he's terrible and I agree he has a freaking ego and is ok with making calls about him. Anyways great mental performance by Manoah to fight thru when he did not have his best pitches working. that 9th inning was entertaining if nothing else.
The Keirmaier thing I found pretty dirty. Especially given what MLB is going thru with the Astros and sign stealing. The fact that he stole that card was really just childish. The fact that the team denied having the card when confronted about it is really not OK in my opinion. Sure the card is not really groundbreaking information (its all available to both teams I'm sure) but the refusal to hand over the card when called out shows poor integrity in my opinion.
I was very glad to see Keirmaier step up to the plate and immediately ground into a double-play. that made my laugh.
One final thing, I know the Rays are the best at moneyball but my god it seems like they've hit 4 or 5 balls in the first 2 games that were directly act a positioned fielder where hits were lost, that on top of the one that the 3rd baseman saved a double into a single.... Here's hoping the team keeps rolling as neither the Sox or Yankees look like they are slowing down.

We are in for a thrilling finish boys!
Never thought I would've said this at the start of the season but let's go Jays!!!
September 28th - 30th is gonna be INTENSE, and the fact it's in Toronto is so nice.

Hell I'm tempted to throw on an N95 and even go to a game... very tempting.
I hear there are "socially distanced" seats.
Whats the story behind the Rays stealing a play card?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kiermaier slid into home, it fell out of Kirk's possession and it laid there so Kiermaier picked it up, carried it back to their dugout, slid it to one of the coaches to put in his pocket. End of story.
I missed the top half of the 1st inning of todays game but can someone explain to me why Merryweather was put out for the first inning and then pulled? I get why he was pulled (probably on a pitch count after finally coming back from another injury) but why did he even start? What was the story behind that?

Tough one tonight. Boston is healthy and rolli g again.
I think a record of 7-3 to end the season should be enough to get them in. A sweep of the Twins would give them some breathing room before facing th Yanks, but it will be interesting, hopefully they can pull it off.
Call me old one more time.
