Paxton and Walker for short term as the back end of the rotation is fine to me. Big Maple if his elbow/shoulder is healthy would be huge.

Walker put up sub 2ERA across 26+IP with the Jays. Honestly, for the price of Walker and likely Paxton, they would be great #3/#4 guys. They can get both for roughly 20mill total. Not bad at all.

I personally don't think Jays get Bauer now, seems like Mets will do too much to get him right now.

For RPs there's still Colome, Robertson, Melancon, Kennedy, Doolittle, and Kela are there. They should get 1 of them. And they need a LHP still (doolittle is LHP)

I'd be fine with Walker as a 3-5 starter but I am not interested in Paxton. I just dont trust the elbow to hold up and the depth of the rotation isn't strong enough to risk signing injury concerned players. Now that I've said this, Paxton will be the next signing, and for too much I am sure. I wouldnt pay him much more than what Ray got, unless it's incentive driven.

I'd like to see another left handed bat in their lineup. I think it's just Biggio and Rowdy right now.

Jays are said to be done the "bulk of their heavy lifting" now. Well if they don't improve the rotation, the Semien deal is so dumb.

All depends on what the Jays definition of "bulk" is, but omg if Semien is your last starter signing you're dumb. Unless they improve it through trade is their option they are currently thinking of.

Ugh. Another reclamation project with possible problematic injury concerns.

    https://twitter.com/BlueJays/status/1354627852000522244

OFFICIAL: We've acquired LHP Steven Matz from the Mets in exchange for RHPs Sean Reid-Foley, Yennsy Diáz and Josh Winckowski.

    Welcome to the #BlueJays, @Smatz88!

Yep. And a third LHP in the supposed rotation. Not sure I like it.

He could end up back in the bullpen, much like the Mets relegated him last season. Instead of investing in a long term option to work with, they find a middle to bottom of the rotation guy to hope and pray on. Sure, they didnt give up anything serious for him but that's not the point.

Matz could be a solid add. He's a UFA after this yr. He's always been the guy that people think will jump into the next level. But man, this is an odd move. Opens up a spot for Semien tho on the 40 man roster

hockeyrobot - the Blue Jays brass mixed up the Left Handed Bat and a Left Handed Pitcher

I think Matz name is bigger than his game. And Stephen Cohen said there is only room for one Steven in the Mets organization.

Wonder how much money Cohen has lost due to the Reddit Wars and if it will influence the Bauer deal.

Haha certainly seems so. Maybe they see something they can fix in his delivery. That's our only hope.

So with Bauer gone I imagine there might be a flurry of activity this weekend. That's fun.

    Yup I agree.

Has there been any finalization on the DH in the NL?

Nope. That comes with whatever they decide on season start date, length and playoff size.
