Sure, it's AAA and the hitters aren't as good, but it's not the hitters issue when he's missing his mark with his fastball so many times. Maybe in the bigs he's trying too hard to be cute and "pitch" so to say by hitting the corners instead of just letting the ball and his stuff do the work for him. Either way, he's not quite there yet either but he's definitely closer to being ready than Pearson from what I've seen of both so far.
I did like the comment from Joe Siddal last night when he mentioned using Pearson in the bullpen for a bit. God knows they can use the help back there.
The at bat where Manoah "lost it" he threw 3 balls that were VERY close to the edge. Then after that he lost control over almost all pitches. Then he ended up striking someone out, then he found his control for the last 1 or 2 batters. But it was in the 5th inning so his night was done. I wonder if those 3 balls, if 1 was called a strike would Manoah have "lost it" at all. And they were balls, but I saw some strikes being called in the same spot as those balls. Also there was a very clear strike by Castro in the 6th that the ump called ball because McGuire couldn't frame it well enough for the ump. So, not like I've done the research, but the ump seemed pretty good with the zone, but not forgiving to a rookie pitcher especially when Lynn was pitching on the other side who just attacks the strike zone.
Manoah was a rookie pitcher last night who seemed he got flustered, but not intimidated especially when he was chirping Anderson. That I loved because he wasn't a dick about the chirping, and Anderson didn't seem upset by it.
