Sorry I don't understand what this thread is about. Are we suppose to guess what the real NHL team is going to do at each pick, and then debate about why or why not that player?
Welcome to the DobberProspects NHL Mock Draft, where our scouts will make selections based on real-world factors and give their take on what that pick means in the world of fantasy!
Each scout will take turns making their best guess at who their team's real-world GM would pick at that spot.
They will then analyze whether it was the pick they hoped for, what the fantasy impact is, the prospect's upside, closeness to making it and projected team role in an article to be posted after the draft.
This is a goldmine for those of you who, like me, haven't been doggedly following the 2014 draft class all year. This is an opportunity to debate who the best teams are for a player to go to, fantasy wise, and what ripple-effects each pick might have. This is also your chance to talk to the scouts behind picks that might look just as befuddling as the ones NHL GM's make. Mock the mockers, and see if you can get some information for your own prospect draft!
In addition to our scouts, the Rambling Metaldude Steve Laidlaw, Head Guru Brendan Ross, and Dobber himself will be taking part.
The first overall pick has already been made, and will be posted up in an hour or so.
Let the mocking begin!
Here are the picks so far: http://forums.dobbersports.com/showt...ck-Draft-Picks

My apologies for the less-than-clear original post, it has been edited.
The scouts are going to take turns guessing, yes. Then we debate that player and what that pick would mean, fantasy-wise.

Hello,
Pete Richmire from Seattle (hopefully home to an NHL franchise in the future BUT still home of the first U.S. team to win the Stanley Cup) and I cover the Los Angeles Kings. Is it hockey season yet?
Hey all, I've been helping out with Dobberprospects since it's early days. I unfortunately haven't been as involved as I would like to be due to work, school, and little ones (not to mention a wife lol). I started off overseeing not only the San Jose Sharks, but all of the pacific division teams major prospects. Thankfully, we trimmed that down and I am the resident Jawhead (my own coined name for Sharksfans). So I'll be waiting for my picks to roll through, but this is hopefully an exciting off-season for the Sharks, but there have been promises before.

austeane - in your first post, you should make a draft order list.
1. Florida Panthers (forum_member)
2. Buffalo Sabres (forum_member)
...
30. New Jersey Devils (forum_member)
A mock like this was done in the past and it was really great to see.
Lure everybody's attention by making a list in the first post so people understand what is going on.
(My recommendation)
That was already mostly done in the picks thread, which is now fleshed out here: http://forums.dobbersports.com/showt...ck-Draft-Picks

Hey,
Donesh Mazloum in Edmonton and I cover the Predators on DobberProspects. I'm also a regional scout for Future Considerations so I've been lucky enough to see a lot of these undrafted prospects live.
Aaron Ekblad and Sam Reinhart are the first two picks!

Chris Pudsey and I am drafting for the Washington Capitals. I have no professional scouting experience, I dont cover anyone on Dobberprospects and I have limited writing abilities.
I still think i can draft for the Capitals and give you a solid reasoning why I took who I took.

The first surprise pick of the draft, from the Oilers! Surprise, surprise.
Steve Laidlaw took Draisaitl instead of Bennett!

Fleury to the Flames? Is this supposed to be a controversial pick designed to stir up discussion? If they pick Fleury there'll be rioting in the streets. Great way to erode your credibility.
ekblad - reinhart - draisatl - bennett seem like the top 4 order to me. if flames really want fleury they would obviously trade down right?
Who's credibility are you referring to?
As far as Fleury going that early, I agree it's probably a surprise but as far as the Flames looking for a high end Dman, I dont find this a surprise at all. They really don't need another center as much as they need a high end D and Fleury fits that description.
I agree with Praba though, it wouldnt surprise me to see the Flames consider a trade if they really want Fleury.
In real life, I doubt he gets past Carolina but thats just my opinion.
