I think the stigma was most of the kids got away with anything in college when the rule was put in place, so they wanted to crack down on illegal activity with NFL stars, that’s why it’s so low. They have to of been told even hanging out with people smoking triggers this test.

I also believe the limit has to be adjusted to reasonable amounts. Yes it’s legal in 2 states (and I’m in love with that, tax the hell out of it like smokes and put the money into health care/anything else) but it’s still illegal in 48 states. So I would say the NFL would either lift any consequences with the NFL (unless legally charged by the state or what not) or raise the limit to a reasonable amount (AKA Olympic amount, or MLB). So no more drug tests involving weed.

Texting with a CFL GM who tells me if Josh Gordon is under contract & suspended, rules don’t allow him to play in CFL. Only if he’s cut.

Um...not to overreact but is anyone else watch the pre-game on NFL network? One of the commentators just said the NFL is working on a new drug policy, raising the limits for marijuana. It could pass by Sunday (which apparently there is a chance) if it does both Josh Gordon and Wes Welker's suspensions could be significantly reduced, if not voided.

Fug I just scooped him up and dropped J. Matthews. Fuggin worth the risk. But the big $$$ dynasty league I am in I stuck him on IR for the year - a player cannot be removed from IR once designated.

I am just taking a guess. As I say, i have no clue really what they would do to reduce them. I would be surprised if they get more than half of their original suspension taken away but the NFL doesn't make sense on a lot of rulings.

I think it's past the time for appealing. I don't think it'll change anything.

No it's a change in limits across the board not just weed. They said it could pass by Sunday. It's not an appeal, it's a change in the rules by Goodell & Co.

Would raise the threshold for a positive-test violation for marijuana, and since Josh Gordon's levels were just above the old thresholds, his suspension likely would be reduced under a new system.

Suspensions flying, appeals going nowhere but decisions taking forever to come down, Goodell essentially admitting he botched the Rice suspension and changing the rules shortly after it was handed down in response to public outcry, now potentially retroactively applying new guidelines midstream, etc. I honestly don't care at all about fantasy implications here. Just unbelievable that these guys are essentially freewheeling and making up the rules on the fly as it relates to operating a multi-billion dollar business.

I can see this happening, but I can't understand why they wouldn't have just delayed the Gordon and Welker decisions until the new policy was announced. Even if it meant Welker played Sunday and Gordon didn't, they could then decide based on the NEW policy for the rest of the year.
