With news recently coming out that the Flyers are on Ryan Kesler's list of approved teams for a trade, the asking price would most certainly include Sean Couturier. But should the Flyers deal him?

No. They should not trade Couturier for Kessler.

Yes, yes of course they should! Kesler will be fine for another few years, and Couturier's upside has been stunted.

Please, please, trade him to the Canucks!

It could be one of those trades that both teams win. Kesler surely has several good-great seasons left in him and Couturier is one of those players you can trust defensively and yet has some untapped offensive potential...just don't tell Big Ev!

I still love Couturier. He was always known for his offensive prowess in junior, could have gone 1st overall and now he's really honed his defensive game. I think any team would love to see what they can get out of this kid.

I personally believe, as stated in the piece, that the Flyers should keep Couturier. It's easy to look past the fact that he's only 21-years-old. His scoring will come.

No he couldn't have, he simply does not have the ofense.

Kesler for Couturier would be a steal for the FLyers, but it's not gonna happen.

i've always thought couturier was overrated. he had one good playoffs shutting down malkin, after that he's been pretty subpar. he will still be a good player, just not selke trophy good.

Wasn't he the first player since Crosby to lead the Q in scoring as a 17-year old?

96 points in back to back seasons at 17 and 18 is nothing to scoff at. Especially since he probably would have improved his draft year numbers if he didn't miss half the offseason prior with mono.

He was No. 2 in central scouting going into his draft year and only fell because he didn't take step forwards with his scoring. However when you watch him play you can see the skill. He still has it, it didn't just disappear.

When you watch him play you can see the lack of offense in his game, I certainly don't see the skill. His offensive IQ and skating is not there.

Everybody scores in junior, especially the Q. He has not shown that ability in the NHL, he has shown the ability to be a defensive forward. He has not taken any steps offensively.

there might be short-term gain for the Flyers in a trade like this but I think they'd end up looking silly in just a few years.

Couturier taking his time to figure out the offense just means he'll be a cheaper contract to sign.

This discussion about defensive ability, lack of scoring touch.
These are the same conversations people were having a decade ago about Kesler.

This was brought up numerous times, and I have replied the same thing: Kesler, unlike SC, can skate.

Ditto. Kesler just sort of came alive one year, and has been counted on to produce since then. I see the same thing happening to Couturier.

Im sorry but guys who cant skate dont make the NHL. Weak arguement on your part when it comes to you disdain for Couturier.
