That's about as vague and general of rumor as you can possibly get. I'm sure Florida is also "toying" with the idea. He played there too.

I heard the trade announcement on our local sports radio but I missed the team and assumed it was Tampa. I was ready to come here and feel like an idiot lol.

If Boyle re-signs with the #Isles prior to the regular season, the draft pick becomes a fourth-round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Its like the Islanders are finally focused on winning now that their draft pick for next year is coming into play. They obviously don't want it to be a good pick. LOL!

They gave up a mid to late round pick for a 38 year old Dman, who MAY or MAY NOT sign with them. My money is on him testing the FA market instead of signing before the market opens, but I thought that too about Halak so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I am not sure if this move makes Snow a competent GM or not, but I like his aggressiveness none the less.

does Boyle sign there though? fantasy wise it seems like a good fit, his PP points should be pretty high and he will be the top dog there, not much competition. visnovsky and boyle would be fun to watch

A lot of teams have had good luck recently in the "obtain rights" and then sign.
Boyle's family (kids) are still on the younger side... so he can probably be comfortable anywhere for a while.

Good risk by the Isles who could certainly use a PP-QB.
I'd give Tavares a nice 5pt bump if he signs.

And... also a nice bump for Brent Burns (D) and Jason Demers (D)... and perhaps even Matt Irwin sneaks some time on PP2.
(Assuming they don't try to bring in a replacement offensive-D man.)

I think Boyle re signs (there aren't many that aren't traded for and not re signed anymore - anyone would think they talked to the player before acquiring them ) and when you consider the lack of appeal Long Island holds (for at least another year) and the fact he wasn't horrible last year in 'real' life I think it's a nice fit

I hope Boyle gets Halak'd around the league over the next couple weeks. Just for fun.

Not sure he is the d-man NYI were looking for, but he would help the PP. Good insurance for Visnovsky.... Hopefully they still sign a good defensive defenceman who can teach the young guys how to battle and how to play to win (Orpik!). Much more important to have one of those guys than it is to have Boyle. The Isles don't have trouble scoring goals, it's keeping them out that is the problem. That, and getting consistent effort from everyone. Don't see how Boyle helps with either of those big issues.

Also, Visnovsky is a better defenceman than Boyle. Not sure where the buy-out talk comes from???

Isles depth chart (top 6) =

    Travis Hamonic /Calvin De Haan
    Lubomir Visnovsky
    Dan Boyle
    Thomas Hickey
    FA/Strait/Donovan/rookie.
