    Hi everybody,

want to know what you think about this deal.

I give Thornton and D. Sedin

I receive B. Richard, Cheechoo, Nylander and the 5th pick

Getzlaf, Stastny, Cammalleri, Toews and Mueller are possible draft choice.

I think I give to much with big joe in the deal.

    Your thought

You get robbed. I wouldn\'t touch that deal. Turn it down now. Big Joe will get 110pts. Who else is going to come close?

Sedin while not liked by some is more consistent then Cheechoo and Richards.

You can pick up guys like Richards and Nylander but guys like Joe don\'t come around often.

Yeah it doesnt sound like a good deal to me. Your giving up the two best players in the deal arguably.

How many rosters spots do u have? Is your team deep already?

    Welcome \'Still Learning\':

In order to give you a fair answer it is important to know more about your circumstance. On the surface I would not take this deal BUT if you are re-building, and going for depth, then I might try to work a deal.

You are giving up a lot in Thornton and D. Sedin. I think that both could have improved years, not saying last year was bad, just think they will be better.

I like Cheechoo. (37g,32a-69/76) Plays with one of the best centres in NHL.
    I like Richards. (25g,45a-70/82)

All of these guys are pretty much the same age. Thornton being year older.

I know that Nylander is going to probably play with Ovechkin but he is also 34 years old. If this is a keeper league and you are building for the \'long term\' then I would look at replacing Nylander.

If you could get another player of the Cheechoo/Richards status, and the pick (Stastny, Cammalleri, etc.) then I might consider the deal. The other consideration that you might have is what do you have to drop?

It really depends on what you are trying to do. As it stands I wouldn\'t do it. I think you could build on it though.

Are you going for it this year? I happen to think that Richards and Cheechoo will finish in the high-80s this year, Nylander will have another 80, and the worst player you could draft out of those five is Mueller, who is going to be awesome long-term and 60 this year.
Do you have any other elite players? If you happen to have Crosby or Ovechkin or Kovalchuk or someone along those lines...I would consider this deal.

But as birddog says - Thornton is a Top 5 guy and is virtually irreplaceable. Your situation would have to warrant a deal, for sure. Need more details!

    Thanks Dobber and other,

It\'s a keeper ligue with 15 players protect and 10 players draft and drop every year.

Your comment already told me enought, I\'ll keep big joe.

Well put angus... but when I offer a bunch of role players for one of your stars in our keeper league, I hope you\'ll go against your best insincts and make the trade!

HAHA. It\'s true though... in keeper leauges quality is worth way more than quantity.

I agree with you, Angus and Lanky, for the most part. There is one area though where I do think that you can win with quantity over quality. If you have a player that is approaching the twilight of his career the opportunity might present itself to get some quality prospects that are just on the brink of beginning their careers. I suppose that might be in that 10% area that you referenced.

DO NOT TRADE JOE THORNTON...EVER!! He\'s gonna have to offer more than a bunch of question marks, to take away a top 3 producer from you. Not to mention D.Sedin, who was above point per game production... Pass on that one, big time!
