The Expanse Series
Anyone read any of the Expanse series? It's sci fi space opera, already has three books out and the publisher Tor has order more with a fourth coming out this summer.
The author is actually a pseudonym of two writers, Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham. Franck is actually George RR Martin's full time assistant, and Abraham has collaborated with Martin before.
The series actually got picked up by SyFy for a 10 episode season.
The first book, Leviathan Wakes, is utterly fantastic.
Without spoiling it too much, it deals with the human expansion into the solar system, the political, socio-economic and military ramifications of events and deals with a mystery that has wide ranging ramifications for human history.
I've seen some reviews (from posts on the news of it getting a SyFy TV pickup) as Game of Thrones in Space. I wouldn't go into it expecting a fantasy book set in space but there are similarities. The book follows an identical POV chapter perspective, and the series includes the complexities of political ramifications, religious ramifications and socio-economic ramifications that a Song of Fire and Ice often touches on. It also has a similar element of mystery that Martin has throughout his book.

Wow when I saw this thread today my initial thought was that this was the name for a new Stadium Series. Like the NHL goes to potential expansion markets or something.
