    Default Reinhart vs. Bennett

My apologies if this topic has been beaten to death already, but I hold the #1 pick in my offseason prospect draft and would like to hear some thoughts on these guys. I'm not one to select a D (Ekblad) 1st overall. Prospects in my league have <50 NHL games played and our farms are expanding from 15 to 20 this offseason. We start 4 C, 4 LW, 4 RW, 1 F, 6 D, 2 G. Statistics that count (and that are relevant here) include G, A, P, PPP, +/-, SOG, HIT, BLK, FW.

So which Sam do you take #1? ETA to NHL? Upside?

    Thanks.

Surprisingly, this topic has not been beaten to death on these boards yet. I'm taking Bennett, he's a bit more of a goal scorer and he's a lot more physical. Some comparables I've seen are Toews/Kesler/Richards/Gilmour against Reinhart's H. Sedin/RNH.

I think both will be in the NHL next season, and both have roughly PPG upside I would say. Where Bennett pulls away is his contributions in all categories.

i saw a comparison saying reinhart is comparable to tavares. If thats the case i would be taking reinhart #1 for sure. I think this was the site stating that.

Here's an article where Paul Maurice compares Johnny Pohl to Ron Francis: http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL...74522-sun.html It seldom pays to get too excited about player comparisons. Every Swedish D-man who is half decent is compared to Lidstrom at some point, and none of them are Lidstrom, or ever will be.

So far so good as far as this topic goes, but no fear... its coming.

As far as who I would take, Reinhart has pretty much been ahead of Bennett in most of the polls all year long. Personally, I haven't seen either play (other then on TV) so I have to go with what I read and stay with Reinhart. That being said, I think both are going to be very good NHL players long term.

I have first over all in a points only pool and I'm seriously thinking Reinhart at this point, but I am curious to see how the debate shapes up.

I'd love to get Ekblad too, especially if he ends up in Edmonton.

Sam Reinhart for me, I have had him ranked higher on my draft board all season and I don't see that changing.

Take whichever goes to Buffalo as they will get a better chance to play sooner. Would go with Bennett if I have to choice now.

As long as you understand the comparison is only about playing style, not point ceiling, you should be fine. I'm not saying Reinhart is going to score 112 points like Hank Sedin did....just that he's a very cerebral playmaker, good in the cycle, with a solid defensive game. He looks like Sedin when he plays is all I'm saying.

Until the last couple lists, where Bennett has passed him. Just saying.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospectbrowse.htm NHL Central Scouting for one

Other than that looks like maybe I was wrong. Reinhart has moved back in front after Bennett passed him for a couple months. ISS has Ekblad at 1 with Reinhart at 2, Dal Colle 3, and Bennett 4. Bobby Mac has Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett as his top 3.

I'm still leaning Bennett if I have the first pick in a fantasy draft, especially if it's a multi-cat league.
