It’s amazing the number of negative tweets I see about Lundqvist. Yes, this year has been a disappointment, the 2.50 goals against average and .917 save percentage is far worse than we were looking for. But it’s important to remember that his totals this year are still that of a number two starter in most formats.
If this is as bad as it gets for the King (and I definitely think it is) then we should all be very happy. What has happened with Lundqvist is that he spoiled us with 8 years of seemingly perfect numbers. The kind of consistency that is almost unheard of in fantasy pools. Let’s all give him a mulligan for this year and be excited that his worst season ever is still that of a top 15 option.
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.
