Default Studs and Duds for 09/12

    Studs
Cam Fowler: The Ducks dman led the way for Anaheim last night, and now has points in four of his last five games. Last night, he netted a goal (which was shorthanded and turned out to be the gamewinner, so lots of bonus points there), added two assists, and was a plus-two. He also had three shots, two blocked shots, a hit and a takeaway.

Matt Carkner: The non-offensive defenceman had a great non-offence night for people in roto of H2H pools. Last night, the Islanders defenceman had 12 pims, one shot, four blocked shots, three hits and one takeaway in 13:11 of ice time. Carkner now has 33 penalty minutes in his last 11 games.

Brandon Dubinsky: Yes, penalty minutes in real life suck for your team. But for fantasy owners, they can win you a matchup. If you had Carkner and Dubinsky last night you were laughing. Dubinksy put up 20 penalty minutes. That’s going to win a lot of poolies a lot of matchups. He also had two shots, six hits, one takeaway, and won 10-of-15 faceoffs.

Jason Spezza: Don’t look now, but Spezza is quietly contributing offensively to the Sens. While some say he should be traded, Spezza now has four points in his last two games, and nine points in his last nine games. He’s also been dynamite in the faceoff dot. Last night was the first time in 13 games he finished below 50 per cent on faceoffs (also against the Flyers on Nov. 12). In only five games has he been below 50 per cent, and his 56.5 winning percentage is one of the best in the league.

    Duds
Jeff Skinner: After a great week, Skinner had a horrible night in a 2-0 loss to the Canucks. The Hurricane did manage to put up five shots, but he contributed nothing else and also finished a minus-two.

Kris Letang: The Pens defenceman has cooled down in his last few games. After five points in three games, Letang now has only one point in four. It’s feast or famine with this guy. One nice aspect to his game this year is blocked shots, as he added three more last night, giving him 32 in 23 games this year.

Craig Anderson: The Sens goalie is posting the worst numbers of his career, and while he got the victory last night, it’s the sixth time in his last nine games he has let in at least four goals. His 3.40 GAA is his worst since he played six games as a rookie in 2002-03, and his .895 save percentage this season is his second worst season ever. Anderson now has let in at least four goals in 10 of his 20 starts.
