Default So my defense sucks. A lot.

First year of a limited (keep 6 to start) keeper. Stats and team in Sig. Once IR spots open up for Souray and Clutterbuck, I will have two roster spots open to grab a couple D.

After OEL, Wiz and Goligoski, my D is dreadful. Sitting on Kulikov, Faulk and Dillon.

    Here's the WW:
    Greene
    Stralman
    Oleksy
    Emelin
    Kindl
    Corvo
    Gunnarson
    Spurgeon
    Hjalmarsson
    Larsson
    E Johnson
    Truba
    Petry
    Gudas
    Vatanen

I'm looking at grabbing Truba and Kindl. I know Dobber has been high (and mighty?) on Vatanen. Thoughts?

Ouch - you sure weren't sugar coating things.

The names that jumped out are Spurgeon for his offense and Emelin for his multi-cat contributions. But neither one is likely going to win you the league singlehandedly. Larsson also could surprise, as could Petry. But none on the list is head and shoulders above the rest, IMHO.

You're underrating Faulk here, he's at least as valuable as Goligoski.

Since you are looking at this year (with such limited keepers) I think your best options are Vatanen and Larsson. Trouba has a shot to make the team but IMO won't make a lot of noise this year. Vatanen is a boom/bust but should get ample opportunity especially on the PP, and I like Larsson to take a step forward this year.

If this is Justin Faulk of Carolina, I'd consider him a very good keeper D with your scoring categories, not even close to dreadful.

Gudas is interesting as you count hits and PIM and he's not going to be a goose egger on points either.

I'd only consider EJ or Larsson out of that group for producing decently this year. Larsson seems like a smart choice because only Zidlicky is ahead of him on the depth chart, but....

EJ will get all the chances this year because COL's defence is trash, and Roy likes him. EJ will surpass expectations this year (not hard to do, considering...) but if you look at who was injured/held out last year, compared to this year, it bodes well for a bounce back. Downie and Landeskog are healthy. Mackinnon adds some depth, and O'Reilly isn't holding out.
