Gotta pick four keepers...
Max 2 at any position.
Cats are G, A, P, PPP, SOG, +/-, HIT, BLK, FW.
Evgeni Malkin Pit - C
Kris Letang Pit - D
Jason Spezza Ott - C
Bobby Ryan Ott - W
Nail Yakupov Edm - W
Tyler Seguin Dal - C
Jonathan Huberdeau Fla - C,W
Mike Green - D
Brad Marchand Bos - W
Brent Burns SJ - W,D
Carey Price Mtl -G
Malkin's obviously a lock. And one of Seguin or Spezza as my other center... Leaning towards Seguin.I'm not sold on Price being a truly elite goalie though, and I might just take Ryan and Letang after that.
Any advice would be very welcome, thanks...

10 Team, 27 Player (9 Fwds, 6 D-men, 2 Goalies, 10 Taxi Spots), Points Only Keeper League
Fwds: Malkin, Stamkos, Toews, Kessel, Benn, Elias, Kunitz, Roy, Berglund, Ennis, Stepan, Purcell, Tanguay, Ladd, Bennett
D-Men: Campbell, Enstrom, Byfuglien, Goligoski, Del Zotto, Visnovsky, Hamhuis, Souray, Brodin
Goalies: Miller, Rinne, Ward, Crawford
So there's no goalie categories in this league? lol
Yeah, way too little information here - goalie cats, how many teams, how many starting positions (and what are they?) on the roster, etc.
Sorry guys... It was late and I posted this in a bit of a hurry.
It's a 10-team H2H league.
Roster spots are 4C, 6W, 5D, 2G.
24 players on each roster total.
There are actually 5 goalie cats, so they're pretty vital:
W, SO, Saves, Sv%, GAA.
That said, the obvious choice here, and my gut reaction, was to take
Malkin, Seguin, Letang, and Price...
I guess my question is this:
Is there any argument to be made for taking another forward (or even Burns) over Price?
He really let me down last year... Goalies can be quite volatile, and I believe there will be some good ones available via draft, as we're only allowed to protect one goalie each.
Thanks for your time, guys

How many roster spots for each position?
How many skaters per team?

I think smart money is to throw Price back this draft and keep Malkin, Sequin, Ryan and Letang.
Sequin has yet to prove himself but if he plays up to his pedigree then you don't want to lose him for the future. Spezza is a bandaid boy, and as much he could have a huge year - with only 4 keepers, I don't think the risk is worth it.
Price is a good goalie but not going to have a great year - I would hope to catch him in the redraft if there is no one else better. There will only be a max of 9 goalies held as keepers so there will be something decent to replace him anyway.
Ryan is a very good multicat guy who could really break out, and since you need wingers .....
I like your logic, Shoeless...
Mostly it comes down to Ryan vs. Price to me.
Malkin's more or less a lock... And Letang's a stud too. I really have a lot of hope for Seguin in Dallas, and I prefer him over Spezza for sure.
Looking at the other 10 teams, because we can only protect a single goalie, and a few teams drafted extremely goalie-heavy last year, I expect all these goalies to be available at the draft:
Rinne (potentially)
Loungo
Howard
Schneider
Pavelec
Bobrovsky
Smith
Lehtonen
Miller
Hiller
Fleury
Ward
Holtby
(Price)
I have a solid stash of early picks with the 3rd, 13th, 15th, 21st, and 25th overall, so I shouldn't have too much trouble snagging 2 goalies in that range.
If Rinne gets dropped I'll try to grab him at 3rd, otherwise I'll likely target Lou, depending who else is on the board. Lots of goalies with question marks on the list though...
