Current ones most would say I irrationally love:
Stanislav Galiev, Anthony Duclair, Mark Pysyk, Andre Petersson
Isn't it early to write off Savard and especially Orlov?

Exhibit A on why drafting 18 year old goalies in keeper leagues is almost always a bad idea. You invested four years into him and we STILL don't know if he'll make it.

Backsliding again. Just picked up Gerbe. Salary league, rebuilding from the mess left by a previous owner (imagine a scorched, smoking, blackened wasteland, with Pavel Datsyuk sobbing in its midst and Ryan Martindale prancing around in a crown with "Top Prospect" written in glitter on his shirt). Things are a bit better now, but I could use some forward depth and old habits die hard.

    Ill quote the original post
"It's a well-known phenomenon that GMs will overrate their own prospects, but is there one or two guys that you have a completely irrational fantasy crush on? I'm talking about a player that you rate vastly higher than most other GMs for no specific reason, you are loathe to trade unless it's painfully obvious or necessary, and are willing to draft one round or more earlier than the consensus just so you can own him."

I rate Baertschi higher than others GMs and wouldn't trade him and would draft him one round or more earlier to be sure I own him. In my sim league I traded Malkin several months back. And Baertschi was one of the key pieces I got in return. Some may call that irrational haha.

Hahaha......Dobbs tends (tended??) to get worked up about unheralded midgets. It hasn't been an effective strategy so far but I'll give him some credit for Ennis....he flew that flag long before he was on many peoples radar.

Oldies I loved and were misses....Brendl, Zherdov and Filatov...yup...loved the Russians...

Newbies I love for no particular reason...Ristolainan, H. Lindholm, Brodin...yup...love European Dman for some reason.

Also have HUGE hopes for new European G entering the scene like Raanta (I'm hoping for a Niemi replica - completely irrational) and Svedberg.

M.Rielly and Joel Armia are two prospects that I have that are untouchable. I just have this feeling that both will be fantasy studs.

There've been others as well, but man did those Filatov references above really hit home.

Oh man, I had him too at one stage, similar to my Zherdev thing.

What about Adam Larsson for you and Jonathan Blum for me?

    Mr. Riley Barber.

Gave up Paajarvi to get two late draft picks to use one of Barber.

I read fairly positive things about him back in the spring. Pronman, but I can't remember where. Apparently he is looking a good deal better than his draft slot. With Paajarvi getting mired in St. Louis, aka Nashville 2 instead of the offensive change of scenery we were all hoping for, you may not regret this deal. Who did you use the other pick on?

Reto Berra.....I love my long shots in the last round!

Yeah, Barber is looking really good. He'll have a more dominant role in the WJC this Christmas too. I don't think we'll see him in the NHL until the college season ends.....next year, in 2015.
