Thanks for doing this Dean. Seems this years draft class is quite challenging with such similar players outside the top 3.

I pick 4th in our upcoming prospect draft. Who would you draft at that position...Barkov, Nichushkin, or Lindholm?

I put Lindholm here cause Barkov's skating worries me on a smaller ice surface and Nichushkin has the KHL risk (although he has said he is coming over).

Would it be worth trying to trade my 4th for a few later picks in the first round if i were able to grab Monohan and Shinkaruk/Domi?

    *Domi
    Monahan
    Shinkaruk
    Horvat

*Domi is interesting...if you want to swing for the fences, he could end up #3 on this list.

I like Monahan alot too...the difference between him and Rattie isn't too big either considering he has a very projectable game.

Barkov for me. Smaller ice will be more beneficial to Barkov with his questionable skating

I am not sure I would move that pick but it really depends on how far you fall. Outside of top 8, I would pass.

What's your though about Ian McCoshen? I've seen reports who compare him to McDonagh others to Carlson.

Late 1st rounder - early second?

What do you think about Connor Hurley's potential? How do you see him in a couple of years? Do you think that the ND program can kill his potential?

    Thanks!

Pure offense, points only format, how would you rank:

    Darnell Nurse
    Nikita Zadorov
    Josh Morrissey
    Rasmus Ristolainen
    Ryan Pulock
    Sami Vatanen
    Shea Theodore

    Thanks again, Deaner.

Yeah hahahah I wanted to say (english is my second language) that reading the preceeding questions, those who returned the most were top 5 or top 10 of points only or multicat ! But that wasnt what Ive asked for ...

thx for your detailed answer ! excellent thread.

Not a 2013 question but a prospect question and since your on here Ill holler at you. If you had to choose now who would you rather have in a pts only pool Matthew Barzal (2015) or William Nylander. Last year you were so much help thanks again.

Yes sir. I like the McDonagh comparison and that would be a great development for McCoshen if he could become a similarily type player.

At this point, I would consider McCoshen a mid to late second round pick (potentially, early third)

    Nurse
    Trouba
    Reinhart

However, Trouba would be second on my list regardless. Love his NHL likelihood.

Hurley is arguably my favourite player likely to go in the second round. He's born on the 2013/2014 NHL Draft cutoff date so he's the draft's youngest player. Combine that with his already impressive size and skill set and I love his potential. ND has been known to kill offense but I won't say that will for sure happen with Hurley.

He could surprise and become one of the better offensive players from this class as he does own projectable qualities.

My gut says Nylander but logic says Barzal. So much can happen (good or bad) in that extra year of development so I would lean towards the player who's closer to his draft year - Nylander.

You probably can't go wrong with either.
