Based on this thread and the fact that I'm pretty sure the canned music at work is playing an accordian version of 'Steady as She Goes' I have no choice but to conclude I have gone mad.

I hereby apologize for anything I have posted or may post going forward.

I'm just to see that at my age I can still get excited for good beaver tagging...

I had no idea Beavers could be so big...apparently they can be up to a metre tall when they stand and weigh almost 70 lbs.
I thought guys only tried to "pick up" beavers at the bar??

I guess the moral of the story here: don't try to pick up a beaver and attempt to take a picture with it..

What is this "tagging" you all speak of?
I prefer tapping the beaver.. Tagging seems like a weird awkward game, like ouch ouch your on my hair..

Do we have to explain the hunting metaphor?

    According to the article:

"Authorities in Belarus told the news wire they had received a spate of calls about angry beavers this year."

Don't know about Belarus, but I find putting my dirty socks in the hamper and bringing home some flowers once in a while helps a lot.

Since I've received a few messages about the suitability of having a beaver as a pet I figured I'd address them here.

Beavers are volatile and unpredictable and as such are generally not well suited to bringing home.

If you do feel compelled to have one around at all times then it is probably safest to go with one that you have properly mounted and stuffed first. If you have done a good job you will come very close to the pleasure of having a wild beaver at home without the inherent physical risk.

Furthermore, many beavers carry disease/pets so you will want to exercise care.

The best piece of advice I read in this thread was this:

A beaver feels most comfortable when wet.
NEVER... EVER... mess with a dry beaver.

Also, has anyone warned Sergei Kostitsyn about the dangers of hunting Belarussian beaver yet?
