    Default Studs & Duds - Sunday 5/05

    Studs

The tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth - Ottawa rookie forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau lost at least one tooth last night after taking a PK Subban stick to the face. Playing in only 9 regular season games and playing in his 3rd playoff game Pageau pronounced “Pageau” looked right at home playing on Ottawas top line as he scored his 1st career hatrick in the 6-1 destruction of the Montreal Canadiens. Pageau’s game included being a +2, taking 5 shots on goal and having 4 PIMS with 2 hits and was 71% in the face-off circle.

Logan’s Heroes – San Jose forward Logan Couture became a hero last night to many hockey fans as he single handed defeated the surprising punchless Vancouver Canucks last night in their 5-2 win. Couture who some say looks like a young Sidney Crosby played like Crosby in collecting 2 goals and 2 assists. Couture also had 3 shots, was a +1, 2 hits, 3blocks and an incredible 83% in the face-off circle.

Cuddly Penguins beat up ugly Islanders – The Pittsburgh Penguins big name players showed up last night in the 5-4 Overtime victory over the New York Islanders. Lead by their Captain Sidney Crosby the Penguins powered their way to victory scoring 3 times on the powerplay including the Overtime winner.
    Sidney Crosby – 3 Assists
    Chris Kunitz – 2 Goals, 1 Assist
Gino Malkin, Kris Letang and Paul Martin – 2 Assists
Jarome Iginla and Pascal Dupuis – 1 Goal

    Duds

Not worth the Price of admission – Montreal Canadien goalie Carey Price was doing his own “Red Light Racicot” impression last night in the 6-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Price was in net for all 6 of Ottawa’s goals only made 24 saves on 30 shots for a 0.800 save %.

Not quite ready – Maybe Vancouver Canuck goalie Cory Schneider was pressed into action a little early as he was off of his game in the 5-2 loss to the surprising San Jose Sharks. Schneider playing in his first game of the playoffs coming off of an injury that kept him out of the lineup for the first 2 games showed that he was not 100%. Schneider got the hook after allowing 5 goals on just 28 shots fired his way for a 0.821 save %.
