With how well Montreal drafted last year, they could move into Florida/Minny realms in terms of deep pool after this year.

I'm betting teams like the Canadiens and the Sharks trade some of their seconds and get a 2nd 1st rounder or move up their 1st rounder.

What do you guys make of the russian at number 2 (not that he goes second)? Fantasy wise? Does he drop out of the top ten due to risk? I don't know anything about him.

From everything I have read or seen, he has the rare combo of speed, hands, and size. I could see a team in the 9 or 10 spot taking a chance, but I doubt he goes top 10 because of the risk he may not even come to North America.

The fact that he's already in the KHL and has a contract that doesn't end until after next season (I think) will deter a lot of teams. I could see him going fairly late in the 1st round. Slepyshev was considered a late 1st rounder by many last year and didn't even get drafted due to similar circumstances. He wasn't as good, but that's how far he dropped.

Totally agree, just depends if you have the patience to wait a year, fantasy wise though a top 20-30 pick if you're desperate for forwards....

He's without question a top Ten pick for me this year fantasy wise but unfortunately he was drafted 2 years ago...

Thats unfortunate, I'm guessing almost all of the top guys this year have already been picked?

Ya, by the time the draft year rolls in that years draft is pretty well raped. We can draft anyone over 16 as of the day we hold the draft. 2013 entire top 20 gone. Best player available is Lehkonen. I own , Lindholm, Ristolianen, Morrissey, Compher and Butcher. 2014 top 15 mostly gone best player available Nylander or Virtanen. Virtanen was underage, Nylander was missed. I own Reinhart, Point, Barbashev, McCann, Deangelo, Fabbrie, McKowen, and Cornel. 2015 is virgin, so well the others fight over the scraps of what's left over Ill hammer it. McDavid will go 1st then it goes lots of different ways.

Still don't understand why they elected to keep last year's. Stefan Matteau better become a solid NHLer (impressive that he's already in games I suppose).

I like keeper leagues where you can't draft a player until he is drafted by a NHL team.. Makes the draft that much more interesting.. Just my opinion though!!
