Along the same lines as your \"B\" Division idea - I\'ve been toying with the edea for a pool where you have 30 teams (yes 30). At the end of the first year, the top 10 teams become the \"Elite\" division, the next 10 become the \"First\" division and the bottom 10 teams become the \"Second\" division. Just like European league soccer.

After the second year, the bottom two finishers in the \"Elite\" league are sent \"down\" to the \"First\" division and the top two in the \"First\" division move up to the \"Elite\" division. Obviously the same idea between the top two \"Second\" division winners moving up to the \"First\" divsion and bottom two in the \"First\" divsion would move down to the \"Second\" division.

The bottom two finishers in the \"Second\" division would be out and two new teams would gain entry to the pool. You would need a waiting list.

I would keep the rules fairly simple due to there being 30 teams. Base it on points only, but with a minimum number of forwards, defencemen and goalies, along with a 5 man reserve list/farm team. Just a thought

I rarely admit brilliance unless it is my own. But this is brilliant ... and it will be done. I will rank the entries based on current \"status\" which means that the regular \"experts\" and columnists will be the first year A division. There will be a \"B\" and \"C\" division in which the top 2 teams move up a division and the bottom 2 teams move down a division each year. Details to follow. The Comish gets an immediate B division team for the idea. It will be fully linked and documented here on Dobber.com. Stay tuned for full rules, prizes, and formats.

Wouldn\'t that be unfair having two teams, one in the A and one in the B division!?

    Looking forward to the rules.

He didn\'t know that Russ = The Comish

In his draft to me, he actually had \"Russ\" with a spot and \"The Comish\" with a spot, so yes, you had two teams! haha

i\'d be interested in signing up as well if there is still room. are you planning on doing a draft with all 30 teams picking at once or 3 seperate drafts for each division. be waiting to see what the plan is. my email is in my file unless you need it posted here, i\'ll keep an eye on this thread to see how things shape up. very interesting idea.

Should I take it nice that I would be considered in a B division....yeah, I guess so. If it\'s the same rules as the \"Dobber-A division\", I would be interested.

If this 30 team league happens, I am very intrigued and interested! Will it be roto style or head to head? I would prefer roto.

This is going to be like fantasy hockey porn, especially watching the A division draft.

    My .02 on the divisions.

If you\'re really going to do divisions, I think you either have to have everyone involved in the same draft, or you can\'t have it be a keeper league. I don\'t think you can have an A team have Crosby and then a B team comes up and has Crosby as well. That would be kind of foolish.

I do think you need to consider 3 things

-Keep the scoring simple as was said earlier. Pts, Wins, maybe a couple more categories.

-Roster sizes. I think you could have different roster sizes depending on the division. I don\'t know if this means bigger rosters in the upper divisions or the other way around, but it\'s a thought.

-Draft. I think the A division teams, if everyone is in the same draft, should potentially get a couple of rounds to themselves before the Bs and Cs get to pick. To compensate for this, perhaps then have the B and C teams get to have a couple of more bench players. These would all be, for example, separate Yahoo or Pool Expert leagues I\'m assuming, so this could be accomodated. Then, when you go say from C to B or B to C, you have to drop a couple of guys (fewer spots, maybe fewer keepers the higher you go) so you really have to be able to pick.

Anyway, not trying to tell all of you how to run your league, just bringing up some ideas off the top of my head.

And I know it\'s different depending on if it\'s non-keeper or keeper, so probably just non-keeper then. It would be a full-time job to keep track of 3 keeper leagues like this.

    OK, my head hurts.

Some guys aren\'t understanding this I think. The divisions are independent. Crosby will be owned in all three divisions. This is not a keeper league, so if you finish in the top two in division B, you win the right to compete in a brand new roto competition next year at the expert level.

That\'s what I was getting as I was finishing up writing that.

1 year leagues, 3 divisions, move up or move down top 2 and bottom 2, etc.

It\'s the purest form of competition in this, really. As long as the people are good. Judging from this website, they are.

I still felt obligated to post all that since I spent 20 minutes writing it though haha!

I am still putting this all together and have to get Dobber to sign off on it (he is a picky bastard). It will be 3 independent leagues. We are also still working out how the spots in both the B and C divisions will be filled. I am looking to post a final copy of the entire rules and scoring late next week. Stay tuned.

I would also be very interested in getting into this pool. Please let me know if spots still available.
