    Default Draft strategy - REP

Looking at doing my first baseball draft in two years and looking for any insight on draft strategy. League is a roto style 5x5 with BA, R, HR, RBi, SB, W, ERA, SO, SV, WHIP as the categories.

12 teams with the positions as followed C, 1b, 2b, 3b, SS, OF, OF, OF, middle infielder, corner infielder, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P, P, and 4 bench spots.

Is there any positions I should focus on due to depth or quality of position?
Any players to stay away from?
Any underrated players I can target in the later rounds?

Any help or insight is appreciated!

    don't draft a C until late
Keep an eye on the avail 2nd basemen, its the weak position
With only 3 OF I'd wait on those as much as possible, tho most U will get filled with OF. Your FA pool is going to be littered with OF & C that are drafted in most leagues

Target guys especially early rounds that help you in multi cats, 4 and 5 tool guys. dont grab players that will bring your avg. down in the first 5 rounds, these are to be good players. Do not use a top 3 pick on a mi or c. You can find good value later. Always overplayed with mediocre results.
I am taking a premier ci or OF first, grab the other 2nd and 3rd followed by a stud pitcher. Where you draft matters too for strategy. Try taking the best available player, but also know what positions u still need and what's left. Mock draft central, practice, practice.

    1. Pitching is plentiful, don't use your top picks on pitchers.
    2. Don't punt any categories.
    3. Try to draft guys that contribute in multiple categories.
    4. Tons of value late in the draft, do some homework on whatever rankings your league format. If it's yahoo, there is a thread for that right here on the forum.
    5. Draft one ace pitcher in the first six rounds to anchor your staff.
