In a one year, I'd seriously consider it... although Vanek wouldn't be my ideal target as it appears the horseshoe has recently been removed from his ass.

    Time is ticking!

No way should you accept - that's not nearly enough compensation for Malkin, even if there was only a 50% chance he plays out the season.

Going by probabilities math, Malkin would have outproduce Vanek by double to make that risk even remotely worthwhile, and that's before even taking into consideration concussion re-injury risk.

That's not true. Malkin has to double the Hockey VORP-equivalent of Vanek. Huge, huge difference. The way Vanek has been playing, his value over WW players right now is probably not even that high.

Malkin when healthy is one of the five best players you can have on your fantasy team.

Oops. Then yes, I make the trade unless I'm in a roto league with really deep rosters and lots of teams. And even then I probably still make the trade.

8 team league, head 2 head. Im in first place right now and I have Crosby as well, so I feel like I can afford to stash him on the bench. Only concern is Pittsburgh being hesitant, especially in a shortened season

8 team league... you have to make the deal. If you get burned, the waiver wire options are not going to be significantly worse than Vanek. If it works out, man you come out way ahead.

Also it helps that it's H2H, since you mostly care about playoffs.

NHL.com says Malkin skated with the team today in his first full practice. Hopefully it won't be long until he is back in the lineup.

Evgeni Malkin had a productive practice with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.
The team reports that he even engaged in some contact during today's practice. There's still no clear timetable for when he may return, but the elite center reportedly said he "feels good" after getting some reps.

Just watched the local evening news here. In an interview after practice, they said he will sit out the TB Lightning game, but is looking at returning for the Flyers game.

This was at about 10:15 PM.

Based on today's game-day skate in PIT, those who were watching figure Malkin is good to go tonight vs TB.
