I like Markstrom here. Who knows when Bernier will be traded. I also think Florida is getting better and he should be part of that next year.

    Tough call.

Markstrom is the highly regarded prospect coming through the system. He has his injury issues and has struggled at times in the AHL. Then of course theres the whole Loungo fiasco that may cloud things and throw a monkey wrench into the whole Florida goaltending situation.

Bernier is a starter waiting in the wings for his opportunity. It wont be in LA so its just a matter of time before he is on the move. I doubt it will be this shortened season. He's a RFA at seasons end and thats when you will probably see him move.

If its me, I am going with Bernier and praying he lands softly in a good situation (New Jersey anyone??).

I think Markstrom wins by a pretty wide margin here. He is playing at a very high level in the AHL and the team is developing him properly by hiring stopgaps on the main roster. Bernier has been glued to the bench for ages and I worry that things might not get much better if he moves on to a different team.

Markstrom, and I'm surprised this is even a question. Bernier has been painfully mediocre whenever he's been called on in LA....maybe once he lands a starting gig and plays more often he'll look better, but his NHL results so far have been very "meh".

Ya Markstrom has had some consistency issues in the AHL, but overall he's been very good in that league. He's also looked great in his few NHL starts, and I fully expect him to be a top goalie in a couple years.

Markstrom, Bernier scares me a bit when he has played he has always been very underwhelming but maybe its becasue he never gets in a grove. To me Schnieder is the best comparison and even though Schnieder rotted behind Luongo for years when he played he was always incredible. Bernier's handful of NHL starts have not been impressive. I think Markstrom is overrated but I still like his unknown potential over what Bernier has shown.
