Default Time to worry about Ward?

I own Ward, Varly and Rask.

    League cats in signature below.

These are the free agents in waivers:
    Lindback
    Pavelec
    Nabokov
    Neuvirth
    Dubnyk
    Backstrom
    Bobrovsky

Would you drop any of my goalies for any of those in waivers? I'm quite keen on Lindback or Pavelec over Ward but not sure. Pavelec would be my choice right now. What do you guys think?

    Thanks

    I would sit tight.

I flirted with the idea of dumping a skater to stash Pavelec for the time being, but all I came up with was dumping Wis but with Subban out that would leave you with an empty roster spot.

    I'd sit tight.

The only guy I might consider would be Pavelec to replace Ward in a one year league. Last season, Ward started really bad as well before pulling it together. The problem with the short season is you might run out of time before that happens. If this was a keeper league, I'd still stick with Ward. Both goalies will face a ton of shots but WPG seems more committed to protecting their goalie right now.

Yeah, looked at the stats last year and I think Ward is a little more consistent. Starts the season slow.

Think I'll stay put for now. Any other changes you would think of doing to my roster?

I think once Subban is back I'll drop Wis for another skater but till then I don't think there's much I can do.

I have owned Ward in a couple of leagues for 3+ years - he always gets off to a slow start. I might drop Varlamov for Pavelec or Lindback, but Ward will right the ship.

I'm watching the Boston and Carolina game, Ward looks fine but the Bruins are dominating.

First goal Chara makes a beautiful pass to Marchand, tap in. Second goal Lucic screens Ward and Chara's shot goes right through him.

Not a good time to sell him, he will be better in the future.

Ward is a workhorse and should never, ever be dropped. If you want to take a chance and drop someone, it would be Varlamov.

I've voiced my displeasure about Ward a couple times lately, but it's easy enough to just look at his numbers. Career 2.75 GAA and .910 SV%. Last season was pretty close to that line. 4 starts this season and he's given up at least 3 goals in each game. He might be a great real life goalie but he will destroy your GAA and not really help much anywhere else.

Well someone in my league just picked up Pavelec so that only leaves me with:

    Lindback
    Nabokov
    Neuvirth
    Dubnyk
    Backstrom
    Bobrovsky

I could do the Backstrom Harding combo... but I feel that just wastes space.

I think you need to stand pat but it's pretty clear the Hurricanes still don't have enough depth to compete every night. That Ruutu injury has been a killer. Pinball effect throughout the lineup. Lots of new faces in new roles though so they could simply be starting slow.

Really? He hasn't posted less than a .915 in 5 years. His highest GAA in the past 5 years is 2.74 and that was last year. He floats more around 2.60.

He also plays for one of the consistently weak defensive teams and they improved this year. He will turn it around. A short season is not the time to sell him short.
