    Default Prospect Help

Below are my prospects - Same as my sig. I'm always looking to improve my roster. In a league this big, you have to sift for diamonds in the rough. There are a couple of players that I have my eye on - can't say who because I have two many Dobberites in my league.

I'd like to know which prospects are CAN'T CUT and which ones are worth letting go to take a chance on a couple dimamonds.

    Thanks in advance.

I'll answer half of your question to the best of my ability. I'm in a re-build myself and these are guys that I would look to hang onto:
    Up front:

    J.Audy-Marchessault - CBJ--shows promise
B.Bennett - Pit-Even just trade value should make him worthy of hanging onto(play with Malkin/Crosby?)
M.Frk - Det (has talent, but I'm not super high on him. I may consider moving him to take a shot)
J.Gaudreau - CGY(I don't know a ton about him, but others seem to be high on him)
K.Kabanov - NYI( I stil feel he has top six upside --eventually)
A.Killorn - TB (a chance at cracking the TB roster?)
M.Nieto - SJS (Don't know a ton about him either, but from what I've heard, he has speed to burn)

    Back End:

N.Beaulieu - Mtl (Should be a good pt guy, I'd think a nice tandem with PK)
J.Morrow - Pit (Again I think trade value alone makes him a no-brainer. Should be a solid player with good upside)
A.Petrovic - Fla (Some feel he has PP QB written all over him, and he's putting up some PIM's as well.)

I hope this helps..although I'm definitely not the most knowledgeable on thses guys.

One87 (I was going to type 187 for short but isn't that the US penal code for first degree murder? I think there was a movie with Samuel L Jackson)...

That's a deep pool dude!!! I will admit right of the bat that there many guys there that I haven't heard of. But that, in and of itself, is somewhat of a clue as to who I think you should put on the "CAN'T CUT" list.

    CAN'T CUT:

    N.Beaulieu - Mtl
    J.Morrow - Pit
    A.Petrovic - Fla

That's a short list - sorry! But those three all have pretty good pedigree and potential.

Up front, I don't know if I'd characterize any of them as "CAN'T CUT" but you've got some good prospects there for sure. I guess it would be easier to list the guys I'd consider dropping to pick up one of your hidden gems. I'd consider dropping one or two of the more speculative / further away prospects like Shalunov, Tarasov, Vesey.

    extra points for PPP

Yeah, LOL. You're right about 187. I'm playing off of that 'cause Sidney is a "killer", so to speak. And when you think of the #87, there's only one that comes to mind. Thanks, Dude. Food for thought. I may have to wait to rep you.

I will say this, the guy is long-term, so swapping long-term for long-term may not be a bad idea.

I do like your D actually. Reilly is one of those little hidden gems. I would have included all your D but I think Buffalo is really deep at D so JGL is gonna have a tough time cracking the lineup.

Thanks for being honest, PD. I did a similar thing a couple of years ago with Nieto, when he was not so popular and Killorn this past year. I try to stay ahead of the curve. I managed to nab Gaudreau last year.

I hear you. I will likely hold onto him, though. I feel he's very underrated and have been pimping him for a couple years now. I don't mind waiting on him. I love dynamic defensemen. Hell, I love "dynamic" players in general. I'm just panning for gold. Thanks again!

    Improvements:

I think you can do better than Riku Helenius, he has talent, but is having trouble translating it in North America, and he doesn't seem to enjoy/adjust to North America well, he also sits lower on the depth chart behind Lindback/Garon, then when Garon is gone its Tokarski... and then Vasilevsky is coming fast... Recently I've heard Riku is returning to europe for family reasons, I do not know if it is just for the holidays or long term...

Your goaltending depth is a bit questionable with a moody starter (who I do like) in Bryzgalov, and 2 backups that don't seem to be able to gain ground in their current organizations, Griess and Bernier (both are good to keep and wait)... But prospect wise, I'd looke higher ceiling or closer to oppertunity... I understand you have a deeper league thust goalies will be at a permium... send me a list of what is out there in a PM and I'll discuss more with you...

Depending how quickly you want those prospects, Vesey is likely staying at Harvard for 2-3 more years before he turns pro... Maybe you can find a higher or close guys if you want and re-aquire him later... that said his value will jump if he has a good WJC, or he will stay a bit unknown... that said if he continues producing in the NCAA Hobey Baker nominations will but him on everyone's radar....

I don't see Filatov helping you, let anouther manager pray on him... You seem to have youth on your team, but your depth is questionable... I'd try and get rid of Filitov for a North American that would provide depth and is very close to call ups... similer to Wellman, Wandell and Conacher...

You have a Great D core, and great prospects back there... maybe take advantage of moving 1 or 2 of them for improvements on Wing and G depths... Reilly, Morrow, Petrovic, Hamilton and Murphy will all arrive at the same time... followed by questionable arrivals...
    Current Roster:

F: H Sedin, Plekanec, Perry, Cammalleri, Oshie, Stepan, Anisimov, Kunitz, Justin Williams, Little, Baertchi, Huberdeau, Eberle, Rattie, Hoffman, Holland, Horvat, Dano, Dal Colle, Kerdiles

D: Boumeester, Green, Carlson, Del Zotto, Myers, Alzner, M Staal, Pouliot, Gormley, Mueller

G: Varlamov, Mrazek, Niemi, Vasilevski, Ramo, Hellebuyck

Thanks for the input. If I cut ties with someone, I have to be sure I'm done with them. I've cut a few in the past who were sleepers and others have since pounced on them.
