Watched Soul on Disney+ over the break during a crappy day at a cottage.

I'd recommend. Such a good Pixar movie. Typically Pixar "let's live life right" type of movie, but the detail in the movie is insane. I couldn't get over it. It's about finding your purpose in life, so there's scenes of slow motion of wind blowing through the leaves, sun hitting a persons face. The detail in all of it and the sound engineering in it. Wow. For a free new movie on Disney+, I'd say you should watch it if you're into Pixar movies.

WW1984 or whatever I heard was good off the bat, then the next day the reviews of actual people watching it came out. I feel like the first reviews were bought. Or, and please chew me out if I'm out of line, was getting favourable reviews because it was a female lead...Like Captain Marvel (I don't think it was as good as some people who reviewed it said it was).

I have both these movies queued up for some family movie nights in the near future.

We recently watched Mulan (live action) and the Croods 2. Both were decent for family entertainment. It is really hard for us to find a movie that we can all watch.

We also tried Midnight Sky, which I personally had high hopes for, but it was unfortunately really bad. It didn't offer enough entertainment value for my 8-year old, and the story itself was not very well written, imo. Obviously with any science-fiction movie you have to suspend belief a little bit, but there were just too many parts in this movie that were illogical, even given the genre.

Watched The Dig on Netflix last night. I really enjoyed it. I wasn't aware of this story about this archeological site but glad I took the time to watch this true story.

Lol, I've managed to avoid that even though it's one of my wife's favorites.

Give this one a try and let me know what you think. 8/10 Had me googling afterwards to find out what the bleep just took place.

Dig was ok, but I felt it to be a little too slow and uneventful for my liking. 6/10
Air Force One - yup, an oldie, but my first go at it. Solid popcorn flick. 7/10
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

The last 5 and my thumbnail reviews:

Lady Bird: Saoirse Ronan. What else do I need to say? She's the next one.
Through Black Spruce: (a friend produced it, so no comment). But as far as my own experience has shown, faithful.
This Is Pop: documentary about the band XTC. Fun for fans, interesting for others.
I Think We're Alone Now: Peter Dinklage is annoyed when Elle Fanning reveals he's not the last man on Earth. Quiet plot (no zombies), but good acting.
The Last Black Man in San Francisco: a film, not a movie - beautiful, thoughtful, lyrical, sometimes even Shakespearean. Recommended for cinephiles.

I've hit up some B-type movies lately.

Fear Pharm - some teens enter a corn field and don't make it out.....6/10
Wrong Turn (2021) - some teens enter the Appalachian Mountains and don't make it out.....7/10 Tarantino esk ending here.
Aquaslash (2019) - some teens enter a water park and don't make it out...4/10

Due Date (2010) - Zach Gaf. and Robert Downey - I really liked this one. Lots of laughs. Good cast and solid soundtrack. 8/10
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

You obviously didn't get that recommendation here!

Knives Out - we watched this one last weekend. I enjoyed it. Makes you think and tosses some twists into the plot.

I can't remember if I mentioned this when I watched it, but The Lighthouse with Robert Pattinson and Willem Defoe is a very messed up movie. Not like the plot is messed up, or the graphics are insane. No like, the whole thing was made by someone in a fever dream.

I watched in before sober, couldn't get around any of it. But I couldn't turn away because the acting was so good. I watched it after the devils lettuce recently...waste of time.

The new Justice League is pretty solid. A 4 hour flick so bring your patience and time. I've watched it in chunks - 30 minutes to go. It's a solid 8/10 for me and I'm not overly interested in these types of movies.

    You Cannot Kill David Arquette

For anyone who was a wrestling fan 20 years ago, it’s a really interesting watch. I had no idea that he made a return to wrestling recently in which he took things very seriously.

It’s not the most well done “documentary” I’ve ever seen and there’s a few parts that felt forced or a little scripted. But overall it was fun to watch and I found myself rooting for him at the end.

    7/10
