Watched the last hour of the LOTR, two towers, battle at Helms Deep. Always impressed with that scene. How many arrows did 'blondie' have anyways? and where did he find the time to top up his supply?? ....shakes head....
Bourne Trilogy was awesome. Bourne Legacy sucked.

    Valhalla Rising... thumbs, UP.

    Weird, weird movie.
Cinematography was excellent. Mercy, so good.
I've actually enjoyed (recently) films that are a bit on the quiet-side.
Stuff with lots of air-space where you have a bit of time to collect some thought of your own and ask yourself a few questions about "what exactly is going on?"... and "where is this going?".

Film was definitely very different and definitely not for everyone.
In the end, I found that I just enjoyed it... as a change of pace.
I think anybody that dislikes is simply too plot-driven and can't accept a movie if it doesn't have a clear plot-line.
(This movie was sort of an ever-evolving plot-line with no clear "goal"... which may make it more like life than most movies really are.)

    Overall, quite a nice recommendation.
Very different... which made for something that I thought was very good.

Glad you watched and enjoyed it!

Yeah I actually watched it again on Saturday. Amazing cinematography as you said, love the soundtrack too.

    ***SPOILERS***

Mads Mikkelsen is just so powerful - impressive performance, not easy to do with his character not saying a single word in the entire film.

Yuo might think of this as being cheezy but at Christmas time how can you not watch Home Alone 1 & 2? Timeless classics. Watched them on the weekend with my kids and they liked them as much as I did growing up.

Agreed. Jason Reacher was a very complex character. Or was it Jack Bourne? I forget....

Just watched Alex Cross - had potential but fell flat. Mediocre acting, real bad ending, I wouldn't really recommend it.

Watched Prometheus last night - what a crapper that was, a lot of potential but it fell completely flat. SPOILER ALERT [somewhat] - the scene near the end where they were running away from the rolling alien space ship reminded me of Wile E. Coyote running down a hill with a giant ACME bowling ball rolling behind him - TIP: take two steps to the left or right and you are out of harms way.

Chernobyl Diaries - another one with a lot of potential but it didn't really come together and didn't deliver the scare factor I was hoping for (not even close).

The Woman in Black - this one absolutely freaked me out. Very well done and one that I would recommend to any fan of the horror genre.

The Cabin in the Woods - they pulled out every gimmick they could think of, especially near the end - not worth the $5.99 Rogers took from me. What the hell was Sigouney Weaver thinking when she signed up for this one.

Major League - caught it on cable the other night. One of my favourite sports movies of all time.

lol The woman in black was pretty good, I don't usually watch scary movies, but that one I did enjoy.

Ugh, this sooooo much. I liked the movie overall, but I couldn't stand this scene, it was torture watching that part.

I have to say that I found The Woman in Black to be quite poor. A lot of build up to a whimper and the 'scary' scenes not really scary to me. Then again, I saw it earlier this year and can't remember a lot about it, but that says a lot.

But to each his own, and glad you enjoyed it.

I typically enjoy any movie that involves people isolated in big ass scary houses (gives me the willies, The Cabin in the Woods being the obvious exception here) - this likely stems from watching The Shining when I was 8 years old (back when the independent corner video store was more interested in making money than enforcing age restrictions).

Did you ever check out The Changeling? Definitely has that element to it.
