My wife watched a bootleg version of Gravity on the cpu the other day, I found out this morning. She said "it wasn't that good" and "you wouldn't like it" to which I promptly told her she shouldn't have watched the bootleg version of the movie, and should have waited to go see it with me IMAX. Well I'm still seeing it in IMAX. So can't wait...

Haven't watched a movie in a few weeks which is rare for me.

Same! I was on my flight to Toronto.

I also watched "The Internship." It wasn't too bad. I'd give it a 6/10.

There were some jokes I didn't understand but I liked how they showed how difficult it is for an older person to fit in with the "new" generation.

    Lets see, what else?

    I saw "Jobs" a while back. 7/10.

I watched "A League of Their Own" for the first time. 10/10.

Watched "Goon" over the weekend. 6/10.

    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!!

6/10 seems too low of a score for this one...curious to hear your thoughts on it. I loved Goon, personally.

I don't know. I liked the story and the characters but I didn't love the movie.

It was very funny and well done but at the same time it was pretty cheesy.

Maybe it deserves a 7 or an 8 out of 10.

Finished watching The Conjuring today. Overall really enjoyed it. The premise is pretty standard but at least not overplayed in the movie (they set it up and pretty much let it roll). The approach to it fairly well done, and even though they rely on some standard scare tactics (sh!t jumping out at you) it has some serious 'freak you out' factor.

I should note that anything with a puppet, doll or marionette in it will typically scare the crap out of me though (seriously, the 'lonely goat herder' scene in the Sound of Music is enough to make me leave the room).

    7/10.

Just watched "Warm Bodies" this past week. Thought it was "neat" A very different take on an increasingly saturated genre of zombie movies.

I liked the concept and most of the story, some plot holes but overall I thought it was kind of an "indie" verson of a zombie love movie, which in and of itself is....unique...

I think Goon deserves at least a 7, if not an 8...very entertaining movie and nicely done. To me it's one of the better hockey themed movies out there. One of only four movies I have downloaded on my phone.

Saw the remake of "Carrie" tonight..it was alright. Best parts of the movie to me was Julianne Moore, she's just brilliant in the movie...overall I'd say it's exactly what I expected it to be. 6.5 out 10

Excision - surprising little film with some really interesting characters and a fun little ending. 7/10

Deep Red - Classic film I've been meaning to watch for years. 7/10

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer - way better than I was expecting. 6/10

Springbreakers - my favorite movie this year by far. Loose narrative, great version of the American dream gone wrong. 9/10

Pacific Rim - boring, unoriginal remake of Top Gun that adds a Godzilla element to it and still manages somehow to be incredibly uninteresting and dull. Shocking how drab and unoriginal this film was. 2/10

    My last five:

Lego Movie: 3.5 out of 5. Would have been a five, except the last 20 minutes was horrible enough to knock it down a lot. Great movie until the end.

Captain America: It was all right. 3 out of 5.

Fantastic 4 Silver Surfer movie: Same as the last one. 3 out of 5.

Swordfish: 2 out of 5. Tried too hard to deceive you.

Transporter 3: Not enough action. 3 out of five. But I am excited there may be another three Transporter movies.

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

American Hustle - 8.5/10 - great movie, great acting but it probably could have been trimmed by 15-20 mins

The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug - 7/10 - wayyyyyy better than the 1st Hobbit movie (that was a snoozefest). This movie gets all its points for it's fantastic action scenes and zero points for anything else...there's just not enough material to cover. They never should have stretched the story into 3 movies, that's Hollywood greed ruining what could have been an awesome two-movie set.

Lovelace - 8/10 - A sad and dark look into the life of Lucy Lovelace, the original big name porn star of the 70s. The acting was great and they did a fine job telling all sides of the story.

The To-Do List - 7.5/10 - Surprisingly good and very funny. Yes they've made this same movie 100 times already but somehow they made this work really well. Good movie to put on with your wife/girfriend.

We're the Millers - 7/10 - Also surprisingly funny, it too is comedy formulaic but nonetheless entertaining, I'd definitely recommend it. It drags on a little too much at the end but still fun.
