Love Die Hard, but it ain't a Christmas movie!
Movie set around the holidays, a holiday party, with Christmas music, decorations, and and references. Also the plot is around redemption and family. It's a Christmas movie in my books!

We'll have to agree to disagree there. It's just as much a Christmas movie as Family Man.

Too many great ones to narrow down to 5... but if being on Santa's nice list was at stake:

    1) A Christmas Story
    2) Love Actually
    3) It's a Wonderful Life
    4) Elf
    5) Christmas Vacation

The Six Triple Eight on Netflix.

True story about the only all black female unit to serve in WWII.

I love these true stories and this one didn't disappoint.

Saw the new Lion King (Mufasa) movie in theatre with the kids. It was pretty boring but the kids liked it.

I don't know if it's cause I'm getting older, but these animated movies seem to be pretty bad compared to when I was growing up. OG Lion King, Aladdin, Toy Story, all the Pixar franchises, hell even Frozen were all magical.

The new ones play it really safe, same formula that's been done a million times and the characters have no depth or nuance.

We're at a point when a movie studio puts out a movie that costs more than $50 million to make, it doesn't hope it is a hit, it =must= be a hit or else the studio isn't profitable that year. As a result, the bigger movies feel like they are holding the stick too tightly and not willing to break ground or be the best movie it can be.

When it's first been written in 1844, and has had so many different adaptations in film and television it'll make your head spin, you know the hype is real. The newest version of The Count of Monte Cristo starring Pierre Niney is one of the best film's I think I've ever seen. And this is a 3 hour movie spoken almost entirely in French! Go into it blind if you can. Don't read anything about it. Just trust me. And you tell me, cuz I gotta know. I just was blown away by this one guys.

I didn't know there was a new one, thank you! I loved the book and the 2002 adaptation (Jim Caviezel, Guy Pearce). I'll put this on my list of ones to watch for sure.

You're welcome, and please do bro. Let me know what you think. I can't imagine this isn't the definitive take.

I don't know how to say it without sounding like a jerk, but this is like the "made for TV" version. Just watched it, and I gotta tell you... If you liked this one, you will love the new one! Mind you Caviezel's isn't bad, it's just nowhere near the level of Niney's. I actually watched the new one again after watching the '02 version. I stand by what I said, it's one of the best movies ever made. From the cinematography, to the acting, to the telling of the story. It's a masterpiece!

Don't worry I'm not offended. I haven't seen it in a long time and I know it's not a particularly well made movie, but the story is just so good!

Thanks for the heads up. Felt likely as a straight to streaming release…
