I watched the animated movie "The Secret Life of Pets" on the weekend. I chuckled a few times. It was... alright, 5/10.

The cast is pretty high level though.

    Bringing this one back!

I just watched No Country For Old Men for the first time since I saw it when it originally came out....and holy frigging crap....that's a great movie.

I remember hating a certain twist in the movie when I originally saw it but I loved it this time around. Great flick that was worthy of the the Best Picture.

The First Man, with Ryan Gosling was very well done. Highly recommended. 9/10

Bohemian Rhapsody was excellent also. 9/10. Both are worth your time.......Johnny English Stikes Again, not so much.

I was blown away by the new Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse.
I didn't have a clue what it was about going in--just knew it was animated. Wow. Unbelievable film.

We watched Adrift the other night... it was pretty good for a movie of a true story. Interesting twist to it.

Good that y'all bumped this thread.
I've been slacking on my movie reporting... my last post in this thread is May 17... 2016! Oh dear.

    Here's what I watched from Metacritic's 2018 list, top 100 (page1).

#14. Eighth Grade. 9/10. This was pretty solid, taken at face value. If you have a elementary school kids (or did), this will hit home. I have daughters... and shit, I'm not looking forward to this.
Metacritic Score of 90... Peng agrees.

#15. The Tale. 9/10. Normally I don't like Laura Dern, but this was pretty powerful since the flashback young girl is about same age as my oldest. It's a tough watch - not really fitting of our man-crowd's mass-tastes...
Metacritic Score of 90... Peng agrees.

#22. Leave No Trace. 8/10. This goes with the whole "solo-woodsy" theme of some movies from last year. I liked it, enjoyable watch. I like the movies that are low in dialogue and high in atmosphere.
Metacritic Score of 88... Peng probably would say 80-82.

#29. Hereditary. 9/10. I hate the modern day horrors that are quiet-quiet-eerilyquiet-SCARE... and this one was different and... just a bit fuggin weird. Lead actresses (mom & daughter) are fantastic.
Metacritic Score of 87... Peng agrees.

#43. You Were Never Really Here. 8/10. I dig Joaquin Phoenix. This was another one of those low-on-dialogue/high-on-atmosphere movies. Parts of it were a bit too extreme, perhaps - but good "guy flick".
Metacritic Score of 84... Peng agrees.

#56. A Quiet Place. 9/10. My kind of post-apocalyptic film. Wife & I watched this a month or so before Bird Box. Those films roll well together.
Metacritic Score of 82... Peng probably would give it 85-87.

#71. Sorry to Bother You. 8/10. Well... if you partake in recreational stimulants... this is a pretty good watch. My wife thought it was effin weird. It was... and great for it.
Metacritic Score of 80.... Peng says, that's probably right... and some will bore through the first hour - just keep watching... to the end... ha.

I have Green Book downloaded but I haven't got to it yet. Bohemian Rhapsody was probably one of my favorites from this year but that's mainly because of my fandom for Queen's music.

I'm not an Alien franchise geek but caught Prometheus and Alien Covenant over the past few months and thought they were pretty cool .

Fassbender does a great job of playing the parts of walter / david

I saw Bohemian Rhapsody over the weekend and enjoyed it WAY more than I thought I would. It was epic.

Must watch it - even if you're not a Queen fan.
