Here's the latest from the world of baseball.

-Josh Hamilton seems to be narrowing down his potential suitors, its expected that Seattle, the Yankees, Milwaukee, Baltimore are in the running. The Dodgers will only be able to sign Hamilton should they trade Andre Ethier, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen.

-If the Orioles decide to bring Mark Reynolds back, he will have to take a paycut from his $11 million salary.

-Mike Napoli prefers to catch, rather than play first base. Whoever signs him, offering him the catching position could give one team the edge over the rest.

-Arizona thinks that Justin Upton being traded to Tampa Bay is the second best possible fit for him, since Texas won't trade Jurickson Profar or Elvis Andrus for him.

-It is possible that Boston will trade one or both of Ryan Lavarnway and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Salty has been on the block for weeks.

-Rumor has it the Blue Jays are considering offers for catcher J.P. Arencibia. The club has top prospect Travis d'Arnaud waiting in the wings and needs help in other areas.

If the Jays trade JPA, they best be getting a quality return for him. Its hard to find quality young starting catchers with pop in the bat like he has.

I agree, they have other needs and trading him make sense (assuming d'Arnaud is ready for prime time) but only if the return is good. The last thing they need is more prospects.

Would prefer to see Hamilton go to the Brew Crew. Braun and Hamilton? Awesome.

Likelihood of Reynolds taking a paycut?

I own JUpton and I'm not sure how I feel about him being in Tampa. It would help if Longo stays healthy I guess :P

Can see Salty going and Arencibia staying (at least for this year).

The American League and National League rookies of the year will be announced in less than an hour.

Lets catch up on other goings on in baseball.

-The Tigers and Rangers both have interested in veteran Torii Hunter and are willing to offer him a two-year deal. Detroit, Texas, Boston, Atlanta, the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers all appear to be in the running for Hunter. Detroit seems to be the odds on favourite right now.

-Russell Martin and Mike Napoli could switch homes, as Texas is interested in Martin and the Yankees like Napoli.

-It looks like A.J. Pierzynski is done with the White Sox: http://www.csnchicago.com/baseball-c...5&feedID=10338

-Like Baltimore, Philadelphia has serious interest in Josh Hamilton and Cody Ross. Should they lose out on Hamilton, Ross would be their backup plan.

-The World Series champions are discussing a three-year deal with veteran reliever Jeremy Affeldt, which is expected to be worth around $18 million should they agree on a contract.

-Speedster Jason Bourgeois cleared waivers today and is now a free agent. Kansas City gave him hardly any playing time, but I'd look for him to sign with a club that needs some speed coming off the bench.

-Detroit signed veteran Shawn Hill to a minor league contract today. Hill became a free agent after Toronto removed him from their 40-man roster.

-An NL executive had this to say about Josh Hamilton: "He's going to break somebody's bank and probably break somebody's heart."

I couldn't have said it any better myself, he's an incredibly risky signing.

Holy crap, thats a bit of a drop off for a backup plan. You would think Bourn or Upton, or even Swisher would be better backup plans then Ross.

Purely for left field, the Phillies have a lot of money.

They're still interested in Upton and Bourn, I haven't heard much about Swisher to Philly.

Just in case you missed it, the trade between Miami and Toronto will be made official today.

To TOR: Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck.

To MIA: Yunel Escobar, Jake Marisnick, Henderson Alvarez, Justin Nicolino, Jeff Mathis, Adeiny Hechavarria and Anthony DeSclafani.

-Bob Melvin and Davey Johnson were officially named the managers of the year.

-The Cubs have signed Scott Baker to a one-year deal, he spent the entire season on the disabled list due to Tommy John surgery.

-Torii Hunter is likely to end up with either Detroit or Texas. Hunter had an interview with the Tigers today, but they did not submit a formal contract offer as of yet.

-Seattle wants to make a splash in the free agent market and they're not deterred by the mistake of signing Chone Figgins to a lucrative contract. It could be Josh Hamilton or Nick Swisher, we'll see.

-St. Louis released pitcher Kyle McLellan and signed catcher Rob Johnson.

-The Rays are open to trading Jeremy Hellickson, James Shields, Jeff Niemann and possibly Matt Moore if they can get the right bat back in the deal.

-Atlanta is interested in Cody Ross, he has a long standing relationship with former Marlins now Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez.

-The Orioles have told teams that their largest need is a first baseman, as Mark Reynolds is a free agent and Manny Machado is now the every day third baseman.

-Raul Ibanez could be back with the Yankees and they've reportedly had preliminary discussions with him.

-Astros infielder Jed Lowrie is drawing trade interest, as teams need a shortstop and there aren't many available right now.

Don't forget the 4M in cash coming to Toronto. Thats they reason for the delay in making it official (that and the players passing physicals).

R.A. Dickey and David Price were named the Cy Young award winners for their respective leagues. The MVP awards will be announced tonight!

-Torii Hunter officially agreed to a two-year deal with Detroit, worth $26 million. The Tigers will now shift their attention to Anibal Sanchez, who they would like to re-sign.

-Brian Fuentes decided to call it quits, the 37-year-old enjoyed a pretty nice career with the Mariners, Rockies, Angels, Twins, Athletics and Cardinals. He said the biggest reason he chose to retire is because he wants to spend more time with his family.

-Atlanta is really zeroing in on outfielder B.J. Upton, as he's their top target according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com: https://twitter.com/mlbbowman/status/268834474282848256

-It appears the only Marlin not moving this off-season is Giancarlo Stanton, as the club is supposedly shopping Logan Morrison and Ricky Nolasco.

-Many teams are interested in veteran outfielder Shane Victorino and for good reason. Victorino is known as a run producer, that can steal bases, hit for a pretty high average and play the field well.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, here's the latest.

-Reliever J.P. Howell is drawing interest, he's know as a good setup man who more often then not is effective. Howell finished the 2012 season with a 3.04 ERA in just over 50 innings of relief.

-The Twins are looking to make a splash in free agency to address their starting rotation issues. They are looking at Zack Greinke, Anibal Sanchez, Edwin Jackson, Brandon McCarthy, and Joe Saunders.
    http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_...e-agent-market

-Cleveland is considering Kevin Youkilis, but they don't want to play him at third base. They're looking at him for a first baseman. The Dodgers and Phillies want him at third should either of them sign him.

-Eight teams are reportedly interested in reliever Jason Grilli.
    http://www.bucsdugout.com/2012/11/18...lli-agent-says

-Many teams are very interested in Dan Haren but aren't willing to offer anything more than a one-year deal because of health concerns, mainly his back.

-Arizona and Boston are both interested in Asdrubal Cabrera if the Indians do trade him.

-Boston is more likely to deal Jarrod Saltalamacchia rather than Ryan Lavarnway, but only if they receive a good offer.

-Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald has all kinds of good info here, including the Jays shopping all three catchers and Kansas City listening on offers for hitters like Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers.
    http://bostonherald.com/sports/baseb...lb#articleFull

-Arizona is likely to keep Justin Upton according to a source close to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

-Toronto designated Joel Carreno for assignment following the blockbuster trade that took place between them and Miami. It was made official today.

-The Indians are open to trading Asdrubal Cabrera and Shin-Soo Choo, but ony for the right offer. They've made other teams aware of this and are believed to be fielding calls on both of them.

-The Yankees would like to bring back Raul Ibanez and continue to talk with him. Ibanez is 40 years old, but you wouldn't believe that based on the way he's playing and how he did in the playoffs.

-Japanese reliever Kyuji Fujikawa has met with five teams (Arizona, Cubs, Angels, Dodgers and Orioles).

-Tampa Bay, Boston, Philadelphia and Houston are considering Lance Berkman.

-The Padres are bringing back manager Bud Black for another year, as the team exercised his 2013-2013 contract option.

-Texas is interested in both J.P. Arencibia and John Buck, would you trade either of them in a deal for say Alexi Ogando? Could be a good fit with Toronto.

-The Phillies want to sign Michael Bourn and if they don't, B.J. Upton is their next target. If they fail to sign either of those guys, they could snag Josh Hamilton.

First of all, I'd like to say Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans out there.

    Here's the latest.

-It appears Mike Napoli's best suitors at this point are Boston and Seattle. Boston has offered Napoli a three-year deal, but he wants four years. http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sp...with-mariners/

-Andy Pettitte is expected to make his decision next week. The veteran is weighing his options, he could return with the Yankees or retire.

-Despite just acquiring him from the Mariners, Trayvon Robinson would have to make the team out of training camp or he'd likely be cut loose. More from the Baltimore Sun:
    http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/o...medium=twitter

-The Phillies top priority is getting a centre fielder, hence the teams interest in Michael Bourn, B.J. Upton and Josh Hamilton. They could target Dexter Fowler or Denard Span via trade should they miss out on Upton, Bourn and Hamilton.

-James Shields is available for the right price, but sources say that could be a five-player package deal similar to the one that saw Matt Garza go to Chicago.

-Scott Rolen is still undecided on whether or not to play next season. The team would like him back in some role, not necessarily starting.

-The Cubs have signed outfielder Brian Bogusevic to a minor league contract.

-The Nationals are open to signing Ian Desmond and Jordan Zimmermann to contract extensions. Both players are approaching their prime and important players to the team that had the best record in baseball last year.

-Sources say the Braves have what it takes to pry Justin Upton from Arizona, with a strong group of prospects and some high ceiling pitching prospects in particular.

-The Red Sox have finally agreed to sign Mike Napoli to a one-year deal, with a base salary of $5 million. Napoli could earn up to $13 MM if he has a strong season.

-Pittsburgh's signing of Francisco Liriano will become official once he passes his physical.

-Jose Valverde could draw more interest now that Rafael Soriano is off the market. Valverde looked terrible last season and his command needs to improve if he wants to close again.

-Things couldn't get much better for David Wright. After signing a long term extension with the Mets, Wright is now engaged to long time girlfriend and
    model Molly Beers.

-The Indians have signed Ben Francisco and Ryan Raburn to minor league contracts.

-The White Sox agreed to sign hard throwing reliever Matt Lindstrom to a minor league deal.

-Shaun Marcum has officially joined the Mets on a one-year deal, $4 MM deal.

-Diamondbacks GM Kevin Towers finally pulled the trigger on a Justin Upton deal, which many are questioning. Arizona received Martin Prado, Randall Delgado and several prospects in exchange for Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson.

-Don't be surprised if Jason Kubel gets traded too, its hard to understand what the Diamondbacks are doing right now. It wouldn't shock me.

-The Yankees avoided arbitration with David Robertson, signing him to a one-year deal, worth $3.1 MM. Robertson is one of the best eighth inning relievers in baseball.

-Kansas City has claimed catcher George Kottaras off waivers from the A's.
