i think 40 points is achievable in an 82 game season, ala Fowler, but i would guess it would come with a pretty hefty minus - like Fowler's -30.

    Especially if Whitney gets hurt.

Similar to Anaheim, the coilers are going to have a potent powerplay if the season ever starts.

So far in the AHL, 7 games, 6 goals, 6 assists for 12 pts. Even exceeding my expectations.

I grabbed him just before the free agent signing period ended before the trade deadline last year, on a hunch after seeing Bob Mckenzie sing his praises on his twitter account. KID IS RIPPING UP THE A!
Love it. Sure its only 7 games, but he leads the entire friggin league in points. I haven't been able to watch any games of his, but I'm impressed that not only does he have 12 points in 7 games, he has 6 goals and 6 assists. Not just a set up man.

I watched the game online yesterday. He's dominating. He jumps in on every play and he's like a 4th forward on the ice. I don't know how much of a speed ajustment he will have to go through in the NHL but I really liked what I saw. He's just lethal on PP. A treat to watch.

With the quality of forward on Edmonton roster, he will be a monster.

So after 13gp he is still leading the AHL in scoring whit 18pts WOW I think he will be pretty good. He is playing already whit Eberle second in scoring whit 16pts, RHN 14pts and Hall just coming from his surgery so it's pretty good for Schultz to play whit them in the AHL. Next season if it was a 82 gp I was saying him whit at least 35-40pts maybe over 40 if he get 1st PP.

Another two points yesterday and now has 20 points in 14 games. Leading the AHL in scoring. Amazing start! I wonder how much longer can he keep this pace up.

Perfect example of why everybody should be selling high.

In my head, selling high is when a player is playing way over his head and is value is inflated by temporary strong play. I just don't think Schultz fit in this category. He's legit and there is not many established players I would trade him for a this point. I have him pegged as a 40-50 pts D in the NHL and I have zero reason to believe it won't happen.

I'm reserving judgement on Schultz until I see him in some NHL action. This AHL he is having early on is certainly impressive, but its still just the AHL.

It's certainly possible that he hits 40 as a rookie. But I wouldn't be comfortable making a bet on it.

To keep with this theme, here are the AHL point leaders every season for the past 65ish years (http://ahlhalloffame.com/john-b-soll...trophy-p139047). The only big name on the list is Spezza, whose season also came during a lockout. But it's easy to see that AHL success does not mean NHL success.

When I say sell high, I am not saying he won't be a 40-50 point player some day. I am saying you could get a pretty pretty nice return if the other person values him as a 1st overall pick.
