    Default 2014 draft eligable

Just traded for both Sam Reinhart and Braydon Point in my signature pool. The price I paid was very high. What do you guys feel about there potental? I'm happy about stealing Point as he has grown 6 inces from his draft to the WHL and from what I have read had an excellent playoffs in his call up.

2014 is a way off, but in leagues that allow you to draft such players, I really like Reinhart and consider him one of the top 5 undrafted prospects in the world.

Point is a bit of a late riser (if you can call any 2014 player a late riser) and if he keeps up his play from the end of last season and the playoffs, he could be a top 10 pick in 2014. In one of my leagues, he is the only 2014 prospect available (Reinhart and most of the other 2014 big names are already gone) that I'd grab in our upcoming draft, if I get the chance (which I probably won't, as I expect he will go fairly early in our draft).

I find it tough to make these kinds of investments at a high price. We talk about players being "years away" when they get drafted by NHL teams, but these guys are 16! The only way you get a return on investment within two years is if these guys follow in the footsteps of Kane, Crosby, RNH, etc.

I agree. Unless the value of closer players is totally unreasonable, then I tend to steer clear of these longer projects. There are far too many variables that upset their development.

Every league is different and I'm not sure what "high price" was paid for Reinhart and Point, but in my league I'd be willing to pay what I consider a "high price" for Reinhart at least. I think he will be the first overall pick in 2014, and generally when it comes to first overall picks (Kane, Tavares, Hall, RNH, Yakupov) they make an immediate impact and have huge fantasy value.

Thank you Seadawg! You have to take in consideration the dynamics of the pool. This is a pool with a 18yr existence, for cash that allows us to draft 15yr olds. If you can evaluate a 16yr old you think will go #1 in 2 years that is his value.
