I think you're fine with Foster or McCoy, my personal choice is Calvin Johnson because I feel 100% confident I can get a blockade of RB in the middle rounds and play matchups well with 4-5 RB in my stable from rounds 4-12, including steals who should slot into 1st or 2nd round value.

Still, your best bet is almost certainly Foster or McCoy - outside of those two you're taking unwarranted risk and you better have a game plan

I think the top four are interchangeable.

    Megatron, Rice, Foster, McCoy

5th pick is the (slight) drop this year, I envy 4 because you get the quicker comeback in a snake.

Foster is the answer, don't make this hard.

Honestly, in a one-year I am probably taking Megatron first overall. If not him then McCoy.

[EDIT]: Is this a PPR league...guess I should have found that out before I answered.

I'll go Foster, but Rice is a very close #2. McCoy is a distant third. Loses out to Vick running and their passing game.

After about RB17-18 this year, things get real dicey at the RB position. WR is deeper this year than it has ever been. If you have a top 3 pick and don't take Foster, Rice, or McCoy then you just haven't looked at how shallow RB is this year.

McCoy is going to get his yards. He's had 1600+ yards from scrimmage and around 20 touches per game the past two seasons and I don't see that changing this year. It's just matter of whether he's getting carries or receptions.

    Default Type of league matters

In a PPR league, McCoy's value is higher
In a keeper league, Megatron's value is higher

If I had first pick in a:

    1. One year league, PPR: I take Foster, then McCoy, then Rice as my top 3
    2. Keeper league, PPR: I take Calvin Johnson, then Rodgers, then Foster as my top 3 - with Rice probably sliding in around #6-7 on my list
    3. One year league, non-PPR: I take Foster, then Rice then McCoy top 3
    4. Keeper league, non-PPR: I'd probably get Calvin Johnson, then Rodgers, then Stafford as first choices.

I think league type matters a lot. We know the average lifespan of an NFL RB is 2.5 years and an NFL WR 2.9 years. I'm reluctant to focus on RB too much in a keeper just because they come and go. I'd rather bank on a WR having a 6-8 year career (and some go deep into their 30's) as well as QB's (who often go deep into their 30's) than a RB (who's a dinosaur at 29)

Never go QB early unless your getting 6pts per td pass. So definitely go RB.. I'd probably go Foster. PLease keep an eye out for williamson in the 2nd or 3rd round too.

I think he means Trent Richardson but idk. GL getting TRich in the 3rd. his ADP is approaching the late 1st early 2nd in redrafts and solidly in the 1st in startup dynasty leagues
