    Default Pick a Keeper

I thought I'd throw a thread on here, for fun.

No rush on this one... keepers probably don't need to be set until September.
My buddy has a league that I do with him, it is a Keep-3 league.
    Start 1QB/1RB/3WR/1TE/(1 Flex RB/WR/TE)/1K/1DEF.

You are allowed to keep players only selected in the 3rd round and later.
Keeper #1: Matt Forte (RB), selected 3rd round last year.
Keeper #2: Matthew Stafford (QB), selected 5th round last year.

We had a slew of middle-tier WRs to potentially consider for the 3rd spot:
    *Brandon Lloyd
    *Michael Crabtree
    *Laurent Robinson
    *Torrey Smith
    *Malcolm Floyd

It is a PPR league (I believe), you get 0.5pts per catch... maybe 1pt/10yards... and 6pt for TD. (I can't remember)

    Rank 'em.
    Who's the top two?
Will anything that happens over the summer or in camp potentially change your order?

Well it's a simple answer - barring injury or surprise I keep Torrey Smith

Lloyd COULD surprise in STL so I'd keep an eye on him
I'm about done with Crabtree, but I'll admit his talent is potential
Laurent and Malcolm no real interest.

Forte and Stafford are sweet keeps for you - nailing a good top 20 WR (Torrey I think will be in that vicinity) will be perfect. Then in the draft you can eyeball WR or TE and fill it out. Refresh this question in August if you like - we'll know a bit more about these fringe/value players then. I won't remember this post so best for me to answer it now and ask YOU to re-post it if you want an updated thought

I'd be very surprised if Lloyd does anything in St.Louis this year.

Top two from that list in a PPR keeper league would be Smith and Crabtree.

give me brandon lloyd on this one, anytime you have tom brady throwing the rock theres gotta be optimism, welkers gonna get his 90+ balls, but lloyd can stretch the field with an accurate QB like Brady, he's definitely a nice sleeper for next season, id roll with him

lets be honest, flacco and alex smith leave something to be desired when it comes to leading an offence, lloyds the safer choice to succeed

I know my football pretty well, being a Colts fan and all.

    I'd keep Brandon Lloyd.

Thanks for the input guys - I've been leaning towards Lloyd too.
I think there are enough balls to go around.

I lean on ESPN's fantasy info (prior to having DobberFootball) and their ranks are:

    WR22: Lloyd
    ..
    ..
    WR37: T.Smith
    WR38: Crabtree
    WR40: Floyd
    WR43: L.Robinson

Personally, I think Lloyd would be a better value in a yards only league, he's not gonna as many receptions as people might think since he's behind Welker and Gronk on the catches list, Hell he might even be behind Hernandez too...

Having said that, I still think he's the best option here, just don't expect him to blow away the receptions category.

Larent Robinson not getting any love is surprising.

HE outplayed Dez last season easily. He has sure hands and could be a serious game changer if the Jags surprise this year.

High risk-reward type player, but interesting nonetheless.

Easy Brandon Lloyd in NE... he won't get huge PPR numbers, but he will score TDs often, just like the Patriots do.
