Default Who To Keep? Varlamov, Suter, Filipula

Hi All, any help selecting keepers would be lovely!

League is 12 Teams, 25 Players, H2H Weekly, Can keep 10 keepers of any position. G, A, Pts, PPG, PPA, +/-, PIMs, W, GAA, SV%.

    Here are my top nine.

    Keepers
    C: Getzlaf, B. Richards
    LW: Skinner, Ovechkin,
    RW: B. Ryan,
    D: Subban, Shattenkirk,
    G: Ward, Halak

Who would be my 10'th keeper and why?

Varlamov? Do I keep a 3rd goalie so I don't have to draft one? Is Varly going to be better next year? Is Dejardins going to take his spot? Questions

Filipulla? He's having a strong offensive season and playing with Zetts is never a bad thing. Can he produce again next year? He is LW/C eligible in this league (ESPN)

Suter? - Ryan Suter is having a great year offensively for me. Can he put up the same numbers again next year? Will he be easily redraftable if dropped?

If any of these players were dropped, one can assume they could go in the first 2 rounds of next years draft. The question is, which one is most valuable to my team and will give me the best chance of winning next season?

I'm not totally sold on Suter's fantasy value. He's an amazing D-man but has hovered around 40 points. That's great and all but does he have the upside to consistenly be a threat for 50+ points? I'm not seeing it yet. Since you already have two other keeper D-men, I wouldn't be keeping Suter.

Filppula is having a breakout season and still has room to improve. However he's easily re-draftable. I wouldn't be keeping Filppula either.

That leaves Varlamov as your final keeper. He's young #1 goalie on a team that should improve greatly going forward. Colorado invested heavily on Varlamov and he's their man. Desjardins is no threat for him. There's a value in keeping three #1 goalies and that's the way to go here.

    Keep Varly.

Great analysis here, and I would agree on almost every point.

The only thing I can offer is that if you don't have to declare keepers until before the draft next season, you should wait it out to make this decision. If Suter gets moved to an offensive powerhouse in the offseason, it might warrant keeping three D-men, but otherwise I think Varlamov is your guy.

As for Filpulla, just redraft the guy. It should't be too hard to re-acquire the guy, as there will probably be much better talent going off the draft boards early.

    Cheers.
