02/20/12 Studs & Duds
Only two games yesterday were played but with 11 goals and two shut outs there are plenty of options for the Studs and Duds.
Studs
The Puck Stops Here
Justin Peters and Craig Anderson both posted shut outs yesterday.
Peters kept the Capitals off the score sheet making only 17 saves. Anderson saved all 28 of his shots against from the Islanders
Un-Staaled
Eric Staal definitely stalled on the green flag to start the season, but he is now back in full form. Staal had a big day scoring two goals (one short handed), one assist, was +3, had six shots on goal and won 14 of 23 face offs
Sen-Sational
Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson continue to lead the Sens offense with two goals a piece. Karlsson also added two assists for a four point matinee.
Honorable Mention
Kyle Turris dominated on the face off winning 17 of 22
Predators extend contract on GM Poile, a great move.
Duds
The Quick, and the Duds
Not very good on the draw yesterday lead to being on the losing side of a blow out game for John Tavares, and Frans Nielsen of the Islanders and Marcus Johansson, and Brooks Laich of the Capitals. Tavares won seven of 21 and Nielsen only three of 13 for the Islanders. Johansson won five of 18, and Laich won four of 14.
Triple Negative
Andrew MacDonald, Mike Green, and Dennis Wideman all put up a -3 yesterday.
Five goals in less than seven minutes
Kevin Poulin played only 1:35 and allowed three goals in eight shots.
Thomas Vokun played 5:09 and allowed two goals in nine shots
