Hope the kid does well. Always fun to see. Too bad Wild games are the only ones blacked out on ESPN+ for me.

So, Boldy looks pretty good. All over the puck and he was double-shifted last game in the 3rd while Fiala sat. His hands and foot speed impressed me for someone known for his shot. Tim Army from Iowa did a podcast hit in Minnesota talking about that very point but it was nice to see it on display in the NHL, not just the AHL. He looks pretty good…

Minnesota signs Wallstedt to his rookie deal.

Finished the season with a 12-10 record and a 1.98GAA .918s%. "expected to start in Iowa" is what Michael Russo tweeted. He'll be a key in their navigation of the 14.7m in dead cap moving forward.

still baffles me billy g was willing to buyout still useful players in parise/suter and accept 12.7m/14.7m/14.7m in dead cap over the next 3 seasons. couldnt at least wait for a mysterious career ending injury then LTIR? haha

they gonna have to get real creative with fiala or lose a really effective player whose just hitting his prime. i think kaprizov will still get his numbers but i will be very surprised if they ever get out of the first round with such a disadvantage on their books

they will get some nice help on entry contracts from Boldy and Rossi next year. But yeah its crazy cap hit to take for nothing ...maybe by buying out those players he thought they are 3 years from competing and didnt expect what they got.

Go find Jason Arnott’s recent comments on Suter and that buyout makes a lot more sense.

I think buying both of them out at the same time was a real problem. If they staggered it, they could've spread things out a bit more, and as you said, they were useful, just not at the price. At least the Wild don't have that GM anymore.

Minny has 7.4m to sign a backup goalie, extended RFA Middleton, and sign 3 forwards. Fiala and Dewar are RFAs, and Bjugstad and Deslauriers are UFAs.

No real big money coming off the books in 2022, but Dumba is a 6mill RHD dman who is in the final yr of his deal.

They can either move Fiala for a roster player. If Minny is willing to give Fiala an offer and go "go talk to other teams so we can then work a deal out to trade you if that's a route you want".

Move Dumba to open up space for Fiala and other depth moves

Move Fiala and Dumba for a full "cap reset" in 2022.

I'm really surprised capwise that Wallstedt is already reported to going to the AHL to start. His 925k and being behind Talbot just seems to fit too well. But with the way contracts go in the NHL, they can get a backup for league min, keep Wallstedt in the minors and bring him up in 2023, when the cap crunch gets harder.

Calen Addison on PP1 with Kaprizov, Zucc, Boldy and JEE at practice today. Spurgeon on PP2 with Rossi and others.

I picked up Addison in my league where 50-pt dmen are a premium (and a rookie keeper)

I asked my league's Addison owner about him today and was told that we could do a Mackinnon for Addison-plus deal. The hype train is rolling!
