Could have sworn I saw Talbot would be back for tonight but I guess not yet.

No, he's still on Covid protocol for now. Not sure how much longer he will be there. No updates that I can find.

As per Micheal Russo's post game writeup on The Athletic last night,

"The Wild could really use the reinforcements because defensemen Jonas Brodin, Brad Hunt and Carson Soucy, No. 1 goalie Cam Talbot, and forwards Victor Rask and Kyle Rau remain on the protocol list and are still in Minnesota."

Last nights game made me want to look up what teams records are after their Covid break. I don't think it's very good.

It's just like those 2 week breaks they were giving teams the last few seasons. Everyone loses coming out of time off.

Looks like Boldy has the inside track to make the team. Yesterday the B squad played the Blues and Rossi and Addison showed up on the scoresheet.

Guerin on the Marek podcast hinted at not wanting to rush Rossi (who they obviously love) and that while Boldy hasn’t dominated the score sheet, “he’s fit in” and has brought a “different” skill set.

Seems like a checking role for Boldy as he makes the squad.

Rem Pitlick added. Think he has a one way contract. Maybe no one makes the team at all. Today Wild sounded like they wanted to be very patient. Very.

Pitlick will be on the team to start the year. That likely leaves one spot on the opening night roster (13th forward) for all of:

Rossi, Boldy and Duhaime unless the Wild waive Victor Rask.

My guess is that Duhaime, Pitlick, Rask are the 11, 12 and 13 forwards while Boldy and Rossi start the year in Iowa.

Boldy is playing with the regulars tonight, based on that I say he makes the team. They must be thinking of a transaction with Rask but his contract likely prohibits it; haven't heard that he's having a good camp. Rossi to Iowa for sure; he's missed so much hockey. The Pitlick move.... suppose because they don't want the kids in Minny? He's a local signing.. cheap.. Guess it's depth that doesn't burn ELC..

I think Addison has made the team for sure, despite the number of vets. He's earned it, but was also in the B squad game yesterday.

Really is a guessing game eh? The Wild like their problem but I don't! haha

Boldy hurt tonight. Doesn't look good apparently but no update yet.

Saw the game, saw the play. For God’s sake I effing hate hockey…. Well that makes their decision easier. It looked awful and I can’t decide between a broken ankle or ligament tears in the same… but it was not good at all.

    F*** sakes.

It’s Calen Addison time. He was called up yesterday. Question now is whether he’s up for good. He’s easily good enough to stick on that 3rd pairing ahead of Jordie Benn and Jon Lizotte, and shouid see PP2 time. He’s the future PP QB, no doubt, eager to see what he can do now.

    Thoughts from Wild faithful?

To me, it's not a question if he's good enough to replace Benn or Lizotte, it's is he good enough to replace Dumba or Spurgeon. Guys like Benn or Lizotte are there to be plugs and kill penalties. Is that Addisons strength? No. His strength is offense and skating.

If the goal is to have Addison come up, play 10-12 mins and kill penalties, then he's probably an upgrade. I don't think that's the long term plan for him.
