Word, I definitely agree on the Malkin / Vinny incident.
I would imagine covering two NHL teams for Dobberhockey forums would get a bit taxing...
I've been trying to write more articles lately, and this whole sports journalism thing has been taking up a lot of my time recently.
Cheers.

I was offered the Lightning coverage thread from GM Gates, but I'm not going to be taking over full time here. I'll post some news and updates each day, but not too much activity. See how I like it and possibly stick with the team coverage here.

As long as it's ran by committee I'm fine.
Welcome to the team, Mac! I know we'll be seeing much more of you around these parts of the big bad forum.
Can Martin St. Louis and the Tampa Bay Lightning turn it around?
As the All-Star break comes and goes, its clear that the Tampa Bay Lightning aren't where they want to be after an impressive season in 2010-2011. St. Louis has had a quiet season so far, despite the fact still managing a point per game (43 points in 43 games this season). He's being overshadowed by Steven Stamkos, Vincent Lecavalier and Tampa's goaltending issues. Dwayne Roloson was expected to be the starting netminder, but he has been a huge disappointment this season. All of this adds up to a team currently in twelfth place in the Eastern Conference and searching for answers. The good news is that they have the offense to put together a big second half and they're really on fire of late. The Lightning have won four in a row and really controlled each of those games. They defeated Boston 5-3, Dallas 2-1, Phoenix 4-3 and finished off the lowly Blue Jackets by a score of 4-2.
However, they will likely need to see some more secondary scoring in the second half if they want to make a push for the playoffs. Stamkos leads the team with 53 points, St. Louis is second with 43 and Lecavalier is third with 40. After that, their top scorers are Ryan Malone with 27 points, Teddy Purcell with 27 and then Marc-Andre Bergeron with 24.

Steven Stamkos lit up the skills competition tonight in Ottawa, scoring in a few ways during the shootout elimination challenge. Stamkos showcased a number of different moves during the elimination shootout, scoring three times for team Alfredsson. Links will be posted to the other Stamkos goals as well and I promise you they are something to see. Stamkos also participated in accuracy shooting, but was clearly a little too obsessed with shooting for either top corner as he struggled to hit the low targets. Lastly, Stamkos took part NHL skills challenge relay and showed how dangerous he is when blasting a one timer from the slot. Some of the top highlights are listed below.

Victor Hedman, where is the offense?
After being drafted second overall in 2009, its safe to say there was a lot of pressure on Victor Hedman. Whats not clear to everyone is whether Hedman will develop into an offensive D or not. He's clearly made his mark in his own end as he matures in the NHL, but hasn't done well in the offensive department. Here's a look at Hedman's stats in the NHL.
09/10- 4 G, 16 A, -3, 90 SOG.
10/11- 3 G, 23 A, +3, 101 SOG.
11/12 (32 games played)- 2 G, 4 A, -12, 44 SOG.
Lightning prospect Mark Barberio is showing that he could be the source of offense from the blueline that Tampa Bay so sorely needs. Barberio currently has 37 points through 43 games with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. Tampa Bay also has Russian rearguard Nikita Nesterov, who has looked good in the world juniors. Is it too early to say Hedman won't be an offensive D? Certainly could be, but he hasn't shown much in his first three seasons. Hedman may just become a very good shutdown defenceman and there's always value in a player like that.

Do you think st.louis will have a big 2nd half? he's not playing with stamkos tho, but more with lecavalier. Have been offered him in exchange for Benn.
