Rumors on twitter about the Pens trying to re-acquire MAF from Vegas but Vegas declined. This was apparently before Hextall took over as GM. They are clearly not happy with the way things are going with Jarry.

I had him in a league where we only start 1 goalie and can only roster 3 - I had Price, Allen, Driedger who, on his next start, is no longer minors eligible, Oettinger (minors) and Fleury. I traded Fleury for a 3rd rd pick and Kiviranta. His salary made him a little difficult to trade.

Maybe the Penguins can get Georgiev. Hextall can appreciate a feisty goalie.

Thats what the NHL needs is a goalie that was as feisty as Hextall in his prime.

That's a pretty short list of goalies all-time.

Flyer fan friends of mine are pretty livid about this. We can't really hate Hextall. He's likely the second most loved goalie in Flyers history right now.

Haha really? They fired him though.

I thought Tuukka would give him a run. He had some pretty big outbursts early in his career. But he seems to have mellowed out now.

Just posted this in the Rakell thread but figured I'd post here too.

Oh boy. I really wish I could get on board with the Pens strategy. With the Carter, Rust, and Letang signing, the franchise signaled early that they plan to win now. And they clearly are willing to mortgage years 4-6 for the next three years of winning (evidenced by the term given to Rakell and Letang).

But goodness, unless you can improve the 2nd line, re-sign or rebuild the 3rd line, and add a top 4 LD, I'm skeptical of getting out of the 1st round.

    Can anyone convince me otherwise?

Not a big fan of the Rakell signing. Basically $5M per year for 6 years for a 20 goal guy. I get that he’s a good depth guy but hopefully he steps up his production. They are definitely in win now mode even without Malkin. It won’t be easy.

Geno back in Pitt. Honestly figured Sid would get it across the line.

The #pens have hired Jason Spezza as assistant GM.
Does anyone else find it strange that Dubas has hired an Asst GM before hiring an actual GM?
