Default The Filatov Chronicles: The Final Chapter?

Are we nearing the end of the saga? If in fact, and it seems likely, Filitov and Bryan Murray had a heart to heart, what's going to happen? It is said that Filitov wanted to return to Mother Russia rather than continue to play in the AHL. Filitov was then recalled by the Sens and Condra sent down. Filitov played just over 15 minutes in his first game, a noteworthy increase in TOI from previous games. BTW he apparently had a decent game.

Are the Sens going to give him a final chance to shine? IMO, the team has nothing to lose and much to gain if it works out. If things don't go well....again, will that be it, will Filitov exit the North American scene for good?

    What do you guys think?

FilAtov is the master of his own destiny right now. I think that if he continues to put in a solid effort and becomes a little more assertive than earlier, taking more shots and whatnot, then he will stick. But he's the only one who can decide that.

As for what happens if he goes back to Russia... I really have no clue.

even if he doesn't do anything in this call-up, they aren't sending him to Russia. You can bet your rubles on that.

First, thanks Sentium for not beating up on me for the spelling bad, I knew as soon as I hit post that I'd pooched that, but, it was too late! I agree, the onus is on the kid to take the next step. The question is, will he be given enough free reign that when we all look back on this if it doesn't work out we can all agree that he was absolutely given every opportunity to prove himself. Lots of folks seem to think that Filatov has not yet been given that kind of definitive chance. Will he get that chance now?

I agree Ev that the Sens will not send Filatov to Russia, but will he simply pack his bags and go? I just think these ups and downs can only go on for so long before the kid has had enough an high tails it home. I truly feel bad for him, these last few years have had to have been extremely difficult for him and to his credit, he hasn't quit. But...how long can this go on?

He wouldn't be allowed to just go to Russia. He has to fulfill his contract here, or else he wouldn't be able to sign anywhere else. He could go to Russia but he would be making no money in the process, so that is not an option. Plus he is not a guy that will just quit - he has proven he wants to play in the NHL.

I didn't see him play, but i was checking the stat sheet and saw his TOI, which is encouraging. However, the kid has to shoot. Effort will go a long way, but they need him to score.

Did anyone actually see the game? If so, did he miss out on any scoring chances?

I hear something about Filatov getting a skate to the face against Winnipeg. That true?

This is true. Not sure if the blade got up and hit him in the face but it was scary close. Definitely was some blood around his nose (possibly broken nose). Held his face and went to the dressing room and hasn't been back.

For the love of god... At this point, my only prayer now is that this somehow pisses him off and he plays angry, not scared.
