    Default Carey Price

Is it worth thinking of trading Price before Montreal spirals any further? I like Price as a goalie, but as a team Montreal just seems weaker than last year (or maybe this is due to all their injuries on defence so far...).

I may be able to work a trade to get Price for Luongo

This would be the worst time to try and trade Price. Bad stretches are going to happen - patience, he'll turn it around.

I'm in the same boat... this is the worst time to trade Price.

Give the Habs some time to gain some footing and put together a win streak under their belts, then re-evaluate whether you still want to trade him.

In a keeper league I definitely wouldn't deal Price for Luongo.

In a one-year, I'd be really surprised if you can find someone who will trade you Luongo for Price, but if you can go for it.

Thanks, I'm just depressed, I'm pulling an allnighter for an assignment while watching myself just get 2 points on the night .

I disagree with all the Price lovers. He helped me win my pool last year, but I drafted him as my 2nd goalie. Now people are all over Price like he's a Top-5 goalie and the second coming of JC after one great full season??? The kid's good, but he can only be as good as his team. Unfortunately his team is **** and didn't make any offseason improvements, so how the heck is he supposed to build on last year's success??!

I don't think anyone in this thread said anything about him being a top-5 goalie or the second coming of JC so you shouldn't put words into our mouths...

We're just giving this poor kid some sound advice because clearly he's panicking and he's about to make a move he'll regret.

I drafted Price as my second goalie as well, and I certainly didn't expect him to build on last year's success... last year was an amazing year, I'd be happy if he finished even close to what he did last year.

traditionally I would just draft goalies who were on good teams and just hope for lots of wins... this year I tried something different and its sucking so far haha..

I myself am not the biggest fan of Price. I think he a top 5 talent, but has a lot issues and might not live up to that talent. I also think that Montreal is not a very good team and might not be for a while due to bad contracts, a lack of skill up the middle and a depleted farm system. That all being said Price still has a eminence trade value, as I'm in the minority when it comes to my views on Price. His trade value is slightly down right now, but will go back up as soon as he wins a few games. If I was you I would do what I think Blaze said and wait a couple weeks (let your head clear) and re-evaluate. If at that time you decide he is your franchise goalie keep him. If you have decided he is not your guy then trade him well is value is up. It can only go up from were it is now.

A goalie is DEFINITELY not only as good as their team. Any goalie who will get to start 70 games for their team holds big value, not to mention the bump in those that count SV%.

Price should be good for 35 wins in my opinion.

In today's league where more and more GM's are gravitating towards the goalie platoon strategy, workhorse 70-game goalies like Price who have no capable backups are a rare luxury.
