Is it really worth waiting two weeks for him to come back and potentially have a Malkin situation where he plays 1 game then misses the next four? It's fairly evident that the guy is never going to reach his full potential because he's softer than cotton balls. What purpose would it serve us 1 yr. owners to keep him? The allure of playing with Hall & RNH?

It depends on the depth of the league, quality of your competitors and the settings. I drafted Hemsky in the later rounds in the hopes of a relatively healthy season, but I knew that this could happen (although was hoping for later). We start four in each position in a 12 team roto league with max games and knowledgeable managers, so I won't be dropping him any time soon. Even if he doesn't go on IR, I know that he's valuable when healthy so willing to keep him on the bench for now.

However, If you have several 50-55 point guys available (and a few of them with 60-65 point upside), then his value is not as great and would understand managers not wanting to deal with the potential hassle down the road.

I'm wondering the same thing. There are some other options available. Most notably Hornqvist who is a pretty tempting replacement for Hemsky.

I thought they would IR Hemsky when they activated Whitney but no. Perhaps we can hope they'll IR Hemsky when Gagner is activated on Thursday or Saturday. But if they did that I suppose they'd IR him retroactively to when he was hurt so they could take him off the IR whenever they want as he was only supposed to miss two weeks. Yeah, I've put some thought into this. I need to do the IR shuffle with Havlat - Hemsky. On the upside, drafting them pretty much used up all my stupidity for the year.

I'm with you, Yardie. I have to activate Havlat but Hemsky was dropped two days ago. I wonder if I should grab Hemsky, hope he gets IR status quick and swap him with Havlat. I'd be dropping Seguin to allow me to do all this. In an 8-team 1-year league, I feel that move would make sense.

Don't count on Hemsky hitting IR - been there before with him where he will goes many games as DTD Not completely sure why the Oilers do that.

I'm surprised Ales Hemsky doesn't have any Is or Rs in his name. Maybe his secret middle name is IR. I dropped him. I'll pick him up when he picks up his scrotum off the ground.

I am sooooo close to droping Hemsky right now. I amthinking of offering Hemsky for Stafford, am I crazy?

I almost dropped Hemsky for Selanne off the waiver wire.

I just know he will come back with an 80 point season once I drop him... lol

Any other news on his injury?

Hemsky will never put up an 80 point season. If you are thinking of dropping him anyway, offering him up for Stafford won't be crazy. I'd ditch him as fast as you can, he'll just eat up a spot on your roster and never hit the IR.

I'm in the same boat Yardie.....I just activated Havlat, still have Carter on IR and Hemsky is just eating up a roster spot (on 16 man roster).....might roll the dice soon and drop his ass. Not like anyone would pick him up as DTD....unless they switch him to IR, and a guy picks him up to hold for later...

tough call....drafted him in 9th round, and had Havlat as keeper from last year...

any updates guys? ... i need to make a decision on Hemsky he lack of IR status on ESPN is hurting me, my roster is full because he is taking a spot up. Some decent plays on the wire that are making me think about dropping him; Stepan, Ruutu, Okposo, Ott, Burmistrov, Pacioretty, C. Smith, M. Read, Cullen, Langkow,

Hesitant because he definitely has the highest upside of that group but there hasnt been any new developments re his shoulder that I have been able to find.

    1 yr league points breakdown is G=2, A=1, PPG=3, PPA=2, SHG=3, SHA=2

any updates or thoughts would be appreciated
