Default Wolski or Filatov... Decision today

Hey guys, final keeper spot in salary league. Cats and team in sig. Who do you keep and why between Wolski or Filatov? Any insight is appreciated.

I can also keep Perron, but it's a bit of a waste, Blum or Bernier (but I have the top pick and will handcuff Rask with Thomas so this might be pointless too)

    thanks!

Oh, you gotta go Filatov for two reasons.

    1) His home run ability. He's worth a shot.

    2) Wolski's output isn't exactly impressive. He can easily be replaced.

I agree...when in doubt, all things close to equal, take the upside, and face it....Filatov's upside SMASHES Wolski's. Filly's got a lot on the line here...like an NHL career. Plus, I think he's plying with Spezza in camp....can't go wrong with that, IMO.

This is closer than it looks, as I agree at first glance go with the Filatov upside.

A little food for thought though:

    - Wolski is clearly starting with the Rangers top line and it has been looking good in pre-season. If he meshes, you could be looking at a 60-pt guy - he's done it before, 65 year before last. I'd say 60/40 that the line sticks most of the year and if it does there's a good chance that Wolski has a career year.

    - You have a weaker LW corps than RW, so Wolski's more valuable for that reason.

    - I assume you're keeping Karlsson? If so, that's two sens among your keepers, which is relevant for +/- purposes. It's highly likely Filatov will have a worse +/- than Wolski.

    - You have quite a few big guns (Malkin, Getzlaf, Parise, plus all those D) to make up if Filatov (or Wolski for that matter) flame out.

    - Salary cap obviously favors Filatov.

I think Filatov/Spezza could be an excellent combo from a points perspective, and having watched a few games Filatov looks like he's interested and motivated, and is skating well. So I might go for the homerun, as Chico put it, in Filatov, and take advantage of the extra salary cap space it would give you.

Wolski has screwed me straight to hell a couple times and I'm done giving him chances. Filatov is on his last chance for me. take Filatov.

    Wolski as well.

He's infuriating to own...I kept him last summer, then bid him adieu after about 30games..but that being said, he's shown he has very nice skills, he's shown he can score in the league, he's slated (for now) to play alongside two studs in Richards and Gaborik, and he has every reason in the world to have a good year. If he effs it up this season, I'd question how many teams would be willing to take a shot on him.

Some guy mentioned Wolski's output can be easily replaced. That's true if he scuffs along at a 35-40 point pace. But he had 65 pts two years ago - that's NOT easily replaced.

Filatov is all potential. He also needs to prove he belongs in the league, but he won't be playing beside Richards and Gaborik, and he's yet to do anything in the NHL.

Wolski is the choice...but don't be surprised if he disappoints, either.

Thanks guys! Rep given... Pretty unanimous for Filatov, except for Ross's great points. That's what concerns me as well. Wolski stickin with Richards and Gaborik on a stronger +/- team can be gold. Filatov has played ok but I think their odds at stickin on the top line are the same.

I want to win this yr and I'm not sure Filatov, homerun or not gives me the best chance. Frigging Perron screwed me well!!

EDIT: just saw the 2 votes for Wolski. It's getting interesting.

Not sure if I misread, but if Blum is a choice, I would take him over both Filatov and Wolski all day long. You may as well dump Gunnarsson too.

Out of Filly/Wolski, I'd go Wolski.

Hey guys, I can trade one of my 1sts for Simmonds and a 2nd. I'd pick Marchand with that pick. What do you think? I can keep him over Wolski and Filatov. What do you think?

Based on your post, I also take Blum over either Filatov or Wolski.

Put my down in the Wolski camp. He may be a bust, but at least he's proved he can play in this league before. Filatov could get 20 pts in preseason, doens't mean it translates to regular season NHL (See Bochenski, Bradon).

See also Filatov last year, if memory serves he put up some pretty solid pt totals in the pre-season before flaming out.

Filatov for me. He hasnt got the chance to play and make the mistake and learn from it with out being taken out of the game that hurts ur mojo. I think OTT will give him a good shot.
