And just like that it's 6-3 Florida. Tampa could easily finish 3rd in this division. These teams are not letting up.

Interesting to see Friedman mention that Florida may well take a good run at getting Laine...

If he can be happy and mentally there, he's a great player. And if Barkov is a friend, that makes sense. Just curious if they can afford him.

Aside from Bobrovsky they don't have any terrible contracts and should be in decent shape. They'll need to sign Bennett and Duclair - I'd let Wennberg walk. Montour is a maybe if he's got reasonable expectations. Now would be the time to get Laine. He's coming off a terrible year. The CBJ should be happy to get something for him. Unfortunately the qualifying offer is going to need to be high. But now would be the time I'd think.

I was thinking how much it would effect Barkov and Hube future deals. Barkov is entering his final yr, Hube I think has 2 more. But other than that I don't see any guys who would break the bank.

columbus isnt going to just give laine away after giving up PLD to get him. that being said, i can see them keeping the grinding style with Larsen as coach.

if they can work a trade around Laine for Weegar+ that might be palpable.

I'd say there is very, very, very small chance that FLA considers moving out Weegar.
Ekblad-Weegar have just been a really solid fit and I think FLA would be wise to not mess with that.
They were 35th/10th among NHL D-man in shot differential at 5-on-5 this season.

I'd say FLA would be more willing to give up one of Tippett/Lundell/Denisenko and some draft picks.

oh im definitely sure florida would prefer giving up much less to acquire a 23-year old winger who has already posted up 3 30+ goal seasons to incentivize their star centre of the same nationality to stay with them.

i dont see jarmo selling low. hed only move him for someone who fits their system better who is already good and ready to go.

You are totally misinterpreting what I posted.

I think a package of one of the prospects above, maybe two, and pick(s) - is a better return for CBJ.
Weegar has most value to FLA, because of the chemistry of the Ekblad pairing.

    Example:
    Weegar+ value to FLA: 75
Weegar+ value to another team: 68

    Prospect(s)+Pick(s) value to FLA: 70
Prospect(s)+Pick(s) value to another team: 70

    Make sense?

I understand what youre saying. im saying jarmo isnt going to accept 4 quarters to make a dollar when this guy is only 23 years old off a bad year. hes better off rebuilding his value first than trading for futures.

i dont see any other asset on florida other than their studs who theyd move and columbus would want enough to move laine.

Jarmo would be really, really, really wise to throw his team in the shitter given the prizes of the 2022 draft.
Don't think he doesn't know this. He's a smart guy.

I think this time we'll see CBJ move the piece (Laine) for futures.
We can revisit later and see who is most correct.
I also think we might see Seth Jones moved for futures.

This is probably one of the best ever seasons to know you get a great piece for finishing bottom of the league.
They've got a real chance to be the worst team in the NHL if they move Laine/Jones.

if hes going to firesale, i think he can do better than what florida is gonna offer haha. i can see florida overpaying if barkov/laine really are buddies and it secures a long term extension from barkov

yes, we will visit to see who is less incorrect in the future.
