As usual i was working again so I didnt get chance to catch the game. The Blues dressed a lineup that should resemble their opening day roster. The standout for me was defiantly Oshie with the GWG and an assist. Is this the year Oshie stays healthy....I wonder if NHL has made a commercial with that yet, and if not it should be airing sometime soon.

Here's a link to the box score for whoever is interested

Default BJ Crombeen Injured In defiantly

BJ Crombeen is out In defiantly. He might not be much value in 90% of your fantasy leagues but that may open up a spot for a guy that could hold some value.

My feeling is Grachev will get a shot at making an impact early on in the top 6 with this injury.

I think the injury to Crombeen opens up a great opportunity for Ryan Reaves. I believe the Blues are kind of left without a go-to heavyweight enforcer type player without Crombeen in the lineup and Janssen leaving over the summer..and you don't want your captain having to fight all the time.

Pretty glad that both of my off-season WW pickups of Rinaldo and Reaves might be able to provide some cheap peripheral stats for me.

Grachev with 5 points in 5 preseason games has earned a spot on the oppening night roster.

    From ESPN

The tentative plan in camp was to start the season with Backes centering Andy McDonald and Matt D'Agostini, while Patrik Berglund centered T.J. Oshie and Chris Stewart. But that may change.

"That's how we have them penciled in, but early in camp, we played [Evgeni] Grachev with Berglund and Stewart and they've done very well," said Armstrong. "So he's going to get an opportunity on the left side there."

Nashville and Calgary are not known at offensive powerhouses, but the Blues limited them each to only 15 shots. Is the defense that much improved? I actually think Halak plays better when sees a bit more rubber (and he 'complained' about this after the first game), so this might be good for realy hockey, but not for Halak owners.

I am not sure if the Blues D has improved or we were just down right awful with zero interest in playing.

15 shots is really low, but St. Louis was the 2nd best team in the league for shots against allowed per game last season - so the good defence is nothing new... halak hasn't looked great in either game, but it is early and i wouldn't worry just yet...

I agree with tgr. It's a bit early to still say the blues defense is greatly improved. I never got to see either game but the flames aren't really an offensive powerhouse. They are going to struggle all year to score and they should be in the hunt for yakupov. I feel that the blues as a team are improved with a healthy lineup and all of their younger players gaining more experience like shatty and pietrangelo. To make a call like this though were gonna have to wait till at least the 20 game mark. A lot of teams are still getting used to new players/systems. I think the blues should compete for the playoffs but I think they miss the cut. So far the blues look much improved

The Blues have claimed dman Taylor Chorney on waivers from the oilers. They also sent Coaliacovo to the IR(big surprise there). Chorney could do alright for the blues as a 6th dman. He can bring some offence from the back end. He is a smaller and shifty dman that can skate like the wind. It will be interesting to see how he does in his first few games and if he can earn a spot once Carlo gets back.

According to Andy Strickland, Chorney is one of TJ Oshie's best friends.

Kind of a useless tidbit, but definitely can't hurt I think lol.

Can you give me some info about Nikitin?

Kinda surprised that he is logging more pp time than AP, so I am wondering about his offensive game and his role this year.

Debating about grabbing him over Niskanen.

    thanks a lot!!

The kid has all the tools to be a dominating dman but im not sure if he will be. He has great size and excellent vision and passing skills, but i think he still shy's away from the big hits. He had a great year in Peoria last year with 14 points in 22 games. He is gonna get an oppurtunity on the PP while coloaiacovo is till injured. To me he projects into a solid 2 way guy. nothing ever really to flashy but he can chip in from time to time and he is a steady rock in his back end. I think his best years should be around 30-35pts

The Blues sent Andy McDonald home to get checked out for a possible concussion.

Not good news for McDonald owners but hopefully this is all just precautionary measures.
